Technology
On that note, why didn't you put the sump in the rear of the tank?
vettekiller593
Didnt think about it when i was making it i only put a sump in there so there would be fuel around turns. And i didnt want the pump mounted so it would be easy for someone to get to.

Laodicea
Hey what do you have the IAC valve piped to? Is that what it is called the thing on the rear left of the intake? I've got a supra tt sitting in my driveway with the that pipe open to the air. Edited February 1, 2011 by Laodicea
vettekiller593
I ran a hose off of it and put a filter on it. It's not on it that picture though. It just needs to vent.
vettekiller593
ok so here is an update. Back to the dyno today, pump 93 octane I made 415 at 11 lbs. after some fine tuning we hit 618 at 23lbs. on 93 pump but the clutch was slipping. http://i425.photobucket.com/albums/pp339/vettekiller593/0cafa302.jpghttp://i425.photobucket.com/albums/pp339/vettekiller593/855b7419.jpghttp://i425.photobucket.com/albums/pp339/vettekiller593/7bde4bbe.jpg ok here is a video http://i425.photobucket.com/albums/pp339/vettekiller593/th_fda50f0e.jpg
jake88starquest
WOW congrats!!! I think u may have just made my decision for me! I have got A butt load of $$ in to my G54B.. built motor(40 over) New head, cam, mpi swap, Fuel managment, turbo, intercooler, etc etc etc... I have been threw so much to get it running right and it is not.. I feel kind of bad giving up on the G54B but.... numbers don't lie! I got lots of buddy's with killer Hp here in WI. and Lots of Trash talkin about the car Never running right and on and on.. Well i think u just made my decision I am thinking 2jz swap! Have a car show to go to may. in Wisconsin Dells. and I have been trying to take my Starion there for a bunch of years now.. This is my Goal I may need some help with the build! if u n serpent could help I would be much appreciated! I have read both of your post a bunch and it seems prity strait forward. I don't like to waste people time with talking so as soon as i get the motor i will get a lil update going and may have some Questions! Thanx Jake! Laodicea
Hmm...I have been using E-85...but with your numbers on pump gas...BAM!!!..I might tune mine to 93 octane so I don't have to strategically drive my car to one the 3 E-85 stations that are close but out of the way for me before I run out of fuel. All I think I need is like 470 on the road until I get some tires that will hold. LOL I have been running @16 lbs. just because my tires are bald and I lose grip too easy...it not even fun. vettekiller593
Yea on e85 we are looking for around 750 to the wheels
Laodicea
You have 2 more psi on the final dyno than I did and you are making 100 more horses....but it should be like that with E-85 you get less HP at same psi if you would on unleaded. vettekiller593
well it made 598 on 21psi on cold engine.
vettekiller593
actually I think you got that backwards. Turner told me you make more power on e85 at same boost level as 93 pump. Edited February 16, 2011 by vettekiller593
Ron Burgandy
e85 does increase hp but drastically cuts your mpg and decreases oil life. i dont plan on messing with the stuff the only positive gain is hp everything else goes to crap when you use e85. have yall researched e85 before using it. vettekiller593
Mine will be in e85 for the drag strip because c16 is like 12 dollars a gallon.

Yes...however...i averaged it out and it seems that it is very close to buying 93 octane unleaded with more mpg. The lower cost E-85 per gallon using more = the 93 at better mpg and more $$. But the E-85 is the higher octane and you have to fill up more times than u would at pump 93.
Laodicea
actually I think you got that backwards. Turner told me you make more power on e85 at same boost level as 93 pump. True. It just uses more volume of fuel (e-85)...at the same boost level.
vettekiller593
Ahh gotcha. Yea you should tune on pump for fuel milage.
Ron Burgandy
and for general accessability. its easier to get 93 than e85.
AzStar
and for general accessability. its easier to get 93 than e85. How do these motors measure air intake? Where is the Mass Air or Speed Density? I don't see anything in the pictures from the different installs todate. So obviously I am missing something. BOHO
They are MAP based....not MAF...pressure only.
vettekiller593
Yes mine is just a map sensor. I have a gm intake air temp sensor in the pipe under the blow off valve. Thats how it measures intake temp.
AzStar
Where is the MAP sensor located? Does the car need the intake air temp sensor and if so where did you wire it into the harness? I'm also seeing a Throttle ECU (separate box?) on the wiring schematics... where is that?
vettekiller593
Stock map sensor bolts in the center of the upper intake and air temp sensor is next to it. My map is a aem 3.5bar and my iat is a gm. You dont need that throttle ecu that may have been the traction control in the throttle body.
AzStar
Thanks on the MAP info. What is this connector called? What does it do?
