What have I been up to these past few months, well……. I had lots of time on my hands but $ was tight so rebuilding my 87 took longer than expected. So I did a lot more beautification than originally planned. After all the hard work I’d say it was worth it. I used almost all the shiny zinc bolts from my 2 parts cars to pull it off. I even had to buy new hardware to finish it. Many cans of paint, a lot of sandblasting and cleaning and this is what you get.

Some misic to listen to while you scroll through all the pictures. :)

Engine assembled. Countless hours spent on shiny fasteners and detailing. Almost everything was cleaned, masked, sandblasted, unmasked and cleaned again then re-masked and painted.

If you install the throttle shaft upside down, mechanically it still works the same but the TPS wires are on the bottom and the TPS looks better.

New radiator having fans mounted to it. This radiator was a PITA to get in but it’s bigger and cools better. Plus it’s shiny and performance looking. I know the sensors don’t look the same but that’s 2 low temp sensors. The fans are wired together at the fan relays.

Engine going in.

Almost done, just hooking everything up. I’m using the stock precat and mani just to get it smogged. Starting to look beautiful now. Btw that hood prop isn’t painted black it’s now rubber coated for scratch resistance.

All done. Car is smogged and registered with only 38 miles on the new engine. Innovative wideband installed and the ECU is getting the O2 signal from the Innovative controller. Now it’s time to have some fun with it.

The end result of all my hard work. Shiny and beautiful. I love it.

It's good stuff man... looks great. I've done it to a many parts as well. I used to use duplicolor a lot, but I'm switching over to plasti-kote. Their high temp stuff coats and lasts much better than duplicolor's.

Kitty not amused

i see your cat has a stash of catnip in that jar next to him to amuse himself

Great job!! I bet it was a pain in the butt, but the end result looks wonderful. I bet you dont wanna drive it now, in fear of dirtying everything up all over again.

Well, all right, man!

Glad to see it going!

I remember doing nearly this back in October 2006 with my car. I really tried to make it all nice and perfect, and it looked pretty good when it went in, then I never bothered to clean the engine after that.

It REALLY looks au natural again.

Oh, and as far as the paints go, on all my aluminum stuff, I used Eastwood's Silver Cad spray. Looked really sharp! Maybe I'll get my engine cleaned.
