yeah its going to be retarded trying to take them off the motor. Theres just no room. I think I'll have to hold the motor up and remove the motor mount in order to take them off. It'll work though. I hoping to get this side done tonight.

I got a mini high torque starter for my ol 73 Z28 even with 12.5 to 1 compression she spun that motor nice-n-quick and handled the heat soooo good, also to get her in was no worries she slid right past my Hooker headers... Before I was changing the starter evry 6 months..May want to look into it I got mine form Summit...

John your car is gonna eat lighting and crap thunder when she is done..Can't wait to see it and hear it upclose...

Resting against the framerail??

No, the last one wasn't tacked, just kinda sitting there for the pic. I got close to a 1/2 inch from the frame rail.

Working 11hrs a day then working on this had really been killing me latley. I didn't get much done tonight, still need to weld the collector on and weld them to the flange.(just mocked up for the pic. Not really sure if I'm going to grind down the welds or not. Almost dont really care. Going to be powercoating anyways...

Honestly John, after sitting in it the other night I'd just leave the shifter and everything where it's at. It's so comfortable and you barely have to move to grab gears. Putting the e-brake on the angle we talked about should help with leverage and keep it close to the other controls. Finish your headers so I can drop my motor in my boat!! ;) Edited by Elkidmino

Nice.

I think the start up party should be without headers/exhaust... ... but that's just me.

LOL , this made me laugh it remind'd me of the nite we finaly got the Hilborn mechanical fuel inj all install'd on our C-gas Hemi , it was like 2:00 in the am, now this was with a 330 durration .550 " lift Crane Roller cam with rev kit , hooker headers open of course http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif

this inj system use'd the 14" tall stacks each large enought to drop a beer can straight to the intake valve if the throddle plate wasn't there ,

we knew better but man you just don't use your brain at that age , a few squirts of gas and a turn of the ign swt , and THE throddle cable starts to smoke ( for got to reattatch the ground cable ) oops

put the bolt in cable and try'd again,, she fire'd all right

what we fail'd to think about was we were in a close'd in shop late at nite with car alarms and building alarms all set lol

that 426 roard'd like a wild animal and all the south side windows (8)went flying out in pieces and car alarms and building alarms were all sounding off

we were still deaf when the old man came in yelling and screaming we still have no idea what he was yelling ,couldn't hear a dam thing

that Hemi would hurt your chest from 20 ft away when it rev'd , and to this day was the only car i can honestly say i was scare'd of http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/blush.gif

tempermental as a women on PMS but when right put out over 1100 hp at the crank ,,didn't have rear wheel dyno's in those days

haha thats awesome.

No the car won't be done, the headers and tunnel will be done. I'm doing my wiring and ecu tune/flashed on friday next week in Pa. It'll be a while tho, hopefully within a month or so. Still have to pull everything out, finish welding on the tunnel, primer paint and clear everything, then put it all back together... I still need a ton of little things before I can make it go.

I did the same thing with my galaxie. Got the headers on and couldn't resist firing it up. Not more than 30 seconds goes by and I have a neighbor screaming at me to turn it off. I drove it all the way to the exhaust shop like that. Man was it a beautiful sound.

When I was 17 I had rebuilt the engine in my d50 (g54b FTMFW) and put a pacesetter header on it and didn't bother to run exhaust, MAN that thing was loud. I drove it around for a week... LOL. I was crossing an intersection one time, wasn't even on it, some guy RAN outside his house to end of his driveway to yell at me. "SLOW DOWN!" I wasn't even out of first gear, and I was only going 15mph.

whats your total over all length comeing out to , it's been a while but if i recall it right it was 40" for a mid range block and 44 " for a big block , small blk chev arround 36"

don't hold me to that tho, i may be wrong

total lenght for the longest tube (from flange to where it meets the collector) is around 32" shortest is 20" I really didn't have a lot of room to play with, they kinda ended up where they had to. I gotta say, when I started this project I never welded before in my life, and I'm pretty happy with how far I've come.
