The 88 & 89 have a cast aluminum pan measuring approximately 1/4" thick where as the prior years have stamped steel. The Tuffpans are an upgrade over the 88/89 pan and a considerable upgrade over the earlier years.

Is this the only thing that separates the an 86 tranny from a later model transmission? I've heard the '86 transmissions were weaker without any detail on why.

I think the input bearing style is different in the pre '88 transmissions IIRC.

can you do different colors on these?

I can ship the 19mm Tuffpan as bare aluminum and you can paint it the color of your desire. All of the 12mm kits are already painted.

I just sent you a message on the tuff pans site, if you can still send the 19mm bare Ill probably get 2 kits. I know of 2 trannies that could benefit from them :)

Hi Chris, I responded a while back about these. At that time they were all painted red. Sold out of those in stock. Received the next batch from my machinist today. Do you want 1 or 2 of these bare? Please let me know as the batch will be sent out for RED anodizing on July 5. No more paint.

Thanks

Paul

Do you have any of the 19 mm instock? Is the price different if its bare? I have a friend who powdercoats thats why im asking

Yes I have these in stock. No price change for without paint or without anodizing. For powdercoating you will need to mask the drain plug hole and gasket surface (entire side recommended). Let me know if you will be ordering and how many before July 4. They all go to the anodizer on July 5 unless you speak up. Thanks
