375hp TBI car

What a coincidence. I live 10 minutes away from him, I'm actually interested in picking this car up, he originally wanted 7500 for it, and now wants a turbo honda. His name is Marc, his uncle was the original owner and is very ill atm. His uncle built this and him helping a little for years, has about 1.5" thick stack of reciepts and documents in folder and work done to it. Motor has 63xx miles. Interior is 9.5/10 Body is mint 9/10 (except for fading and what not), no rust original paint I'll be going there in the morning tomorrow since he stripped the 3.75" v band clamp after the new turbo install, I order it with my shop discount and over night'd it so the car can't run yet.

 

It HAD an internally gated water/oil cooled BB GT28R.. Although that(28r) seals blew up 4 days ago LOL because he had small return line and no restrictor for about 6+k miles(should of had .6mm-1mm and atleast a 10mm return) , there is now a non BB oil cooled T4 flanged .84 a/r 60-1 that's bigger than the 28R. Also now a Tial 38mm external wastegate was added with new turbo all done today by Blouch Turbo in Lebanon. LOL

 

The manifold is not a Greddy top mount and it's custom made out of thick gauge SS steal just like the 3" DP with flex pipe(all tig welded like a roll of quarters).... I don't know why he named it that. Personally I would say it's better than Greddy. The massive intercooler is made by Trust/Greddy just like the IC piping and BOV. It has a Marnal head as well and h/d lifters not noted. :) And the Exhaust is 3" magnaflow muffler and cat not Apexi LOL

 

I don't know if the injectors are stock or not.. but a quick search and you can't find "superquench" injectors anywhere online why would he use 2 550cc when the stocks are like 600 and 900. I dont know. The car DOES boost 20psi, the Autometer NB and Haltech WB do show good a/f for being on "550cc" and SAFCII hack. It pulled like a raped ape with the 28R almost instant boost.

 

Verdict:

What I think is he just doesn't really know whats on it, since his uncle built it or the stuff in the receipts he can't comprehend and overwhelm him too much. I'll read over all that stuff in the morning because I only read thru the important stuff(block/head/trans work). And the dynojet numbers are 340h/374t hard to believe on a TBI I know.

 

I got a deposit on it already, so we'll see I'll dig into more tomorrow before I seal the deal. The only thing I think this car needs is Trans cooler(unless I swap in my 5spd from parts car), EMS, Injectors and MPI swap. Hopefully I clarified things enough, I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

Another Red conquest in Colorado....when I get back that will make 3 red 87's if get that one that will be 4 red conquests...sounds like a hoodlum gang to me...

 

As for the 374hp maybe he has one....no two bottles of nos...apparently the ca topped out at 140mph.....hope he doesn't have a heavy foot or he will fry the piston rings....LOL

I don't know how old he is but I'm guessing he's under 23y/o and he does not drive fast.. the pistons may be forged(doubtful) or cast.. But they are as strong and can withstand power just like forged even though they are heavier.. but once you reach the max yielding point s*** will hit the fan. If they are even hyper-u.

 

Personally I rather have forged Wiseco pistons over whatever is in the motor. Eagle rods? I didn't even know they made rods for the g54b. LoL

 

So fishy is right. In 8hrs, I'll know the real story.

Where and how much did he get the Eagles for? I see potential for a GP is they already had one set built.

 

The WHOLE motor was done even balance and knife edge crank. They are not eagles, they are shot peen rods and forgot the name. The Hyper U are something Hastings brand I forgot the name. The head was a new purchased and modified magna head NOT marnal, P&P, 3 valve angle, valve train built.. etc etc according to the paper work.

 

Schneider 274 cam.

 

Even after getting him the v-band, it still has more issues...

Need the metal ring.. the wastegate valve seat for the Tial 38mm that goes between the wastegate and the manifold flange. I actually uninstall my tial 38mm(and valve seat) and bolted in on the car and the car ran minus the oil and exhaust leak. lol

 

turbo manifold to head gasket is now leaking on exhaust cylinder port closest to firewall after welding the external wastegate flange on manifold.. must of warped the manifold flange just a bit during welding. but I think it's because he's using a 1 layer metal gasket lol So I told him to triple up the gasket.

 

stop the oil leak(drip every 3 seconds) from the turbo outlet for return line need a better thicker gasket or tighten in more and use some sealant.

 

I'll be going there tomorrow. Having so much fun helping him and my possible future car if I pull the trigger.

well shyt.. you might as well pull the trigger if your helping him out that much..

ohh and 300+ hp can be done on tbi. i know someone that has some dyno sheets to state it. he also has a dyno sheet that put him over 400 with some of the wonder-nos. lol

Well being currently unemployed even though I got hired yesterday(yay) and start work 2 weeks from now(boo). I'm seriously bored while the wife is at work and my daughter is at this summer camp thing. LOL The car is solid and not a POS, that I know, he's just a misinformed inherited owner.

 

Your right I'm sucking on the mossberg and can't wait to pull it, I guess I need to rescue her right? My body guy will pimp her out with a couple new coats. ;)

 

BTW it is a 300+hp car, I've been in a lot of them hell I DD 2 currently my bolt on g35 and turbo integra. lol One more thing at least it's going to a person who knows how to treat, build and tune cars.. ME :)
