Not starquest question-rear main seal & auto trans

17 June 2019 - 09:13 AM

Gonna replace the RMS on my son's '01 Prelude this week. I've never worked on a FWD with automatic transmission. Other than the RMS, any other parts i should/need to replace while i have the trans out? Would like to purchase everything i can before tearing into it.

Not SQ-Prelude rear main seal

Anyone done one of these? My son's '01 needs done and wonder if doing ourselves would be no less hassle than pulling and reinstalling a G54B. I imaging some differences due to FWD setup. Would it be similar as far as mechanical tools and skills to a SQ? Remove and reinstall longblock the best way, or just send to a shop to do for what $500-$1,000?

GP: Wiper Cowl/Glass trim seal Closed, but still available 7-1-19

24 January 2019 - 06:30 PM

I'm getting a sample of some material very close to the size and profile of the trim/seal that goes between wiper cowls and windshield. It might be even better than OE. Each car would need almost 5' in length. Feeling out interest for who would be in for about $40 shipped if they fit nicely. Seems like a lot per foot for something so small and not all that functional, but the minimum order is fairly large. I'd be comfortable making the order if I had 20-25 paid at this rate.

Update 1/29/19. I have to buy this in way more quantity than i can probably sell for a long time or ever. That said, i can still pull it off for 20 in @ $45 each, 25 in @ $40 each, 30 in @ $35 each, etc.... Those are shipped costs where a small USPS Flat Rate costs $7-$8 for me to ship.

If you pay for 2 or more, I will reduce the price for the second and following sets by $5 each. Example: 2 units shipped together if we are in at 15-20 units would be $45+40+8=$93 shipped.

Let's get 20 in. Only then will i ask for a refundable payment, if for some reason i can't get at least 20 paid.
Update 3/11/19. 20 paid, 19 shipped and number 20 shipping tomorrow

Update 2/5/19: This can be done if we get 15 in and paid at $53 shipped.
Update 2/25/19: I will include free shipping (up to $8) to the first 20 units paid for getting in early on this. That's $45 shipped for one, $85 shipped for 2
3/2/19 clarification: I've had a couple people ask on the quantity/length. I am supplying 1 length of about 61" which will go the full length of the windshield, which will do both cowls and then some. Basically, I fit one between the vertical windshield trim on each side, and added 3-3.5".
Posts #45 & #46 on page 3 are a couple install pictures. There are several ways to do this. I have the luxury of extra material in case i don't like the results, but i figured most would consider installing them without removing the cowls so i chose to try that first.
