How can you tell if it's working or not?

I have a 1980 BMW 528i I'm looking to get rid of so I can maybe put the money towards buying a Starion/Conquest. Anyone interested?   LOCATION: Temecula, CA (in Riverside County, but near the edge, close to San Diego County). SHIPPING: Person has to either pick it up or pay to have it shipped.
