Rough idle

My 1989 Conquest, almost all stock (no egr), originally started, idled and drove fine with the exception of a bad secondary injector. 3k rpm+ wasn't happening. The car was at the shop getting new injectors and a rebuilt throttle body. The throttle body had some leaks. I have the car back now and it pulls pretty good up to 6krpm. The new problem is the idle: Cold starts fine but within seconds, the idle drops as low as possible, almost dies. Anything below 3k rpm is rough and has no accellerati

This platform is just aching for a "modern" 4g63 swap. I was making 550 wheel HP in my 05 EVO on the stock block, and want that capability in my Conquest. As everyone here knows, the 4g54 transmission bolt pattern is the same as the old old style "wide block" 4g63 used in early 80's auto tranny RWD vehicles, not the same as the old style "narrow block" 4g63 used in DSM's, or the new style 4g63 used in EVO VIII and IX.
