How do I fix Filiform corrosion

I have some Labtec LCS-950 speakers on my computer that I've been using for about 18 years now. They are really good speakers and put out great sound. Problem is the volume control has a short. Sometimes playing with the knob will get the speakers to work for awhile. It's frustrating. I tried looking for a replacement potentiometer for it but there's no part #s on the origonal ones. I also tried bypassing the volume control but could only get the left channel to work. Can anyone identify

So I was on the freeway last night, and a corvette was besides me. I of course started to speed up, and he passed me, and I sped up more and passed him, and we went back and forth. Eventually, the dude just straight went berserk, and I followed. When he lost me we were going 120 mph, lol, but I think my car was hitting its limit!!
