Welp, ran into an awesome deal, so I went to the bank and exchanged my last 3 paychecks for lots of crispy $100's, I'm heading to Nashville, Tennessee in the morning to pick up an '89 SHP with sunroof, rebuilt bottom end and new head, everything ready to reinstall (gaskets hoses etc). Ok, Im planning on installing a manual boost controller and know how to install it. My question is, since the MBC will bypass the boost control solenoid (mounted on the air-can) and if the knock sensor detects knock, what will prevent the motor from detonating (i.e. if the MBC fails)?   I thought the point of the boost control solenoid is to cut down the boost when it receives the signal from the knock sensor when it detects knock? If thats the case, why would I want to bypass this safety feat
