  1. The yard that had the $200 seat (that's ONE seat) had a guy that was apparently informed in such matters. He told me '93 seats wouldn't go into a '94 while '95 seats would work fine. So apparently there's no standard then? I'll just have to hunt around for a bargain? Crap. I'm gonna have to go to a chiropractor for my lower back this week thanks to the stupid broken seat...
  2. Good move. If you don't want anybody elses crap, why drive a DSM? Just stick with the starquest, man!!
  3. Anti-ricer man will be in YOUR neighborhood tonight with a bag of croquet balls!!
  4. It was generally a rule with film SLRs that if they got wet they were only good for parts 'cause it would take more than the camera was worth to restore them & then it was a toss of the dice as to how long they would last. Sounds like this rule applies to digital cameras too...
  5. Broke the back of the driver's seat on my 1994 Thunderbird. The salvage yard has one for $250(!!!) I see one piece ones on ebay for $175/pair that I am assuming are POS. What options do I have on puting a seat from a different car into my car? (Like starquest seats, for example. I may be able to get seats free from a 1997 Skylark GS too...) Experiences with seat swapping everyone??
  6. I've got a 1994 T-Bird I could trade? Has nice cold air, gets decent mileage. Has about 105k on it but has not been driven in the winter so is nearly rust free.
  7. No, I think that's a stock '89 wheel. I'm wondering too, though...

  9. In short, it's the same as in America: greed, selfishness and a lack of any kind of personal responsibility!!

  11. When I was young and stupid I found that if you got REALLY close behind a semi the drag would nearly pull you along. Of course we're talking 2-4 ft from the rear!! (PLEASE DO NOT TRY THIS!) The semi drivers would often get annoyed and tap the brakes. Bet they enjoyed my tire smoke when they did that... More to the subject, my bro-in-law claims over 10 mpg improvement if he drives 25-50 ft behind a semi. It seems counter intuitive to me...driving in the air turbulence behind the trailer, wouldn't that cause you to use MORE gas?? Since I'll be driving over 600 miles to Branson maybe I'll try different things. One thing I -CAN- say is that my Conquest seems to be geared to more economically cruise at 55-60 mph. I was cruising at 75 and the traffic was SO snarled up with people driving fast and slow that I gave up, pulled to the right and set the cruise at 58 and I swear the RPMs in 5th gear were nearly half of what they were at 75...
  12. I drove a junk '77 Ford LTD to the salvage yard & removed the new battery while it was running. So that last statement confused me...

  14. Put me down for an extra one - small mens or medium womens for the other half!
  15. Skywatchers in Earth's northern regions may be treated to a dazzling aurora display tonight and tomorrow (June 9), thanks to a huge solar flare unleashed by the sun this week. The solar flare occurred early Tuesday (June 7) and spewed a massive amount of charged particles into space, but NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory monitored the flare, and space weather experts have said that the medium-class sun storm should not pose significant danger to satellites or Earth. [Video: See the June 7 solar flare and eruption] The solar eruption triggered by the flare, known as a coronal mass ejection (CME), could lead to extra-luminous aurora displays for some lucky skywatchers. http://www.space.com/11910-huge-solar-flare-northern-lights-auroras.html If you live in the northern part of the US (or canada) it might be worth taking a look outside Thursday night after 10 or 11pm...
  16. I read that the ISS is the most expensive man made structure EVER. Which would include Versailles, Castle Von Neuschwanstein or ANY other structure (with costs adjusted for inflation)...
  17. I just called today & confirmed - Friday & Saturday nights! We're gonna leave extra early so we can be there late Friday afternoon!
  18. I have a BS in Finance and have been considering going back to school and taking some accounting classes. Wish I could have a job offer in my pocket first though. College classes are crazy expensive compared to when I got my degree in 1982...
  19. LOL, I'd wager that a good number of STi (and Evo) owners just buy their speed and don't know how to heel/toe shift and drive around corners...
  20. The only VTEC I drove was a friend's Accord sedan but I'll agree, once you get into that RPM range it seems like it's gonna accelerate forever. The rotary engine, by contrast, CAN accelerate forever! Knew someone who would regularly run theirs 2-3k over Mazda's redline. (They'd built & balanced the engine, though...)
  21. Interesting. I knew someone with an MS3 that used to scare me when I rode with him so, owning an '02 626, I was naturally curious about the MS6. There's one in town that I see once in awhile. looks tough & fast but in a subtle way I like. I'm suprised of all the maintenance problems you had though - I've pretty much ignored my 626 once it got off warranty except for fluid changes and it's been pretty much flawless. Just got hit for $2k plus to take care of all the deferred maintenance this spring though! (Hey, timing belt, brakes, etc, it adds up quick!) Oh and btw, for warranty service I did NOT go to the nearest Mazda dealer (who are lying dolts, IMO) but drove to the other side of the metro area to the GOOD Mazda dealer that I knew since the '80s...
  22. ...and in jail, feed 'em only krabby patties!!
  23. I'll be driving down I-35 from Minneapolis on Friday morning but it would be out of your way to drive all the way over to Des Moines I think...??
  24. LOL, and here I thought this would be a link to the guy who put KITT style scanner lights on his starquest!! If you haven't seen it:
  25. Well as of now, 8.30pm Memorial day evening, I haven't heard back from the 'seller' after two emails and the ad is still up. wt?????? In the second email I empathized how I think Conquests are cool and have an '87 Conquest AND that I think the car should be restored or parted out rather than just crushed for scrap metal. Still no response, either by email or phone. I figure it's either gone already or maybe wasn't even there to begin with. Oh and in response to one of the previous posts, I think it's definitely worth saving BUT unless it's able to be driven back to my house, I don't have the money or equipment to drag it across the metro area, especially if it IS a rusty, clapped out parts car...
