  1. Okay, I just looked up IE stats - it looks like IE is down to 11% share of all browsers, so I sit corrected.
  2. Wait a minute! They are trying to keep Internet Explorer going?! Last I looked up browser use stats, IE was WAAAYYY behind Chrome and Firefox. It's been awhile since I was a full-time Web developer, but it sounded so nice that IE was down to something like 3% share. BTW, does anyone know what is the rendering engine for the new IE?
  3. According to their "speed shop" listing, the Charlotte one is all the way on the other side of the city from me (actually in the suburb on the opposite side of the city from me). Maybe I'll check it out. Thanks!
  4. Uh... I think I remember finding a page online a long time ago where a woman was making an electric Starion. I guess that's what you're talking about. I think the technology continues to take huge leaps forward though, so the S2000 project I linked is probably worlds different. I'm not trying to make anybody mad; I liked the Vortec inline 6 idea someone linked a page or so back. I do think that if I do a restoration of my Quest in another decade, there will probably be numerous kits to convert it to a high-powered electric car, though.
  5. I am donning my flame proof suit, but I think in the future (after another 10 years or so), this will be the "JZ swap" of the era - http://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/975497-wait-that-isnt-an-f20c/
  6. Oh, this thread is still working..? Anyway, as an update - I bought some stock injectors from 19cturbo. I haven't had a chance to clean them yet, but I hope to soon and that should get me squared away for awhile. Starquestrescue - do you know if there is a thread for modifying the stock fuel pressure regulator? I think I have two, possibly three floating around extra.
  7. Oh, I also realize that my sig has lots of mods listed. That's how I bought the car. I bought it because it ran and the body was very, very dry. I have already returned many pieces to stock, particularly where fuel delivery are concerned. I don't see the need currently to disassemble the head or downsize the exhaust which are my two major non-stock systems remaining. I am working on lowering the boost on my 19C and will switch out the Stage 4 clutch for something much more streetable.
  8. BOHO - I think there are two different topics being talked about here - 1) Can you use aftermarket injectors on a mostly stock (stock MAS, stock ECU, stock fuel pressure regulator) setup? The answer seems to be no. That was pretty much all of my question. 2) If you ARE using aftermarket injectors, what are the best pieces to support those? Caliber308 is making some suggestions, and I think his primary concerns are price and performance. So for the least amount of money and the most amount of airflow you can use his setup. And I think that's fine. For the moment, I will be sticking with stock (stock MAS, stock ECU, stock fuel pressure regulator). I have not driven my car or worked on it that much, so I want to do stock before I dive into modifying. When I do modify mine personally, I will either go with MPI, which is a whole other can of worms, or go with a 2G Mitsu MAS and a Gen-II MAF-T because I want to have the same general setup as the 0G MAS we have, which has corrections and readings for barometric pressure and so on. From what I have read (and experienced when I first got the car), the tune will slip as the seasons change because the GM MAF does not have sensors for anything other than airflow. I will never be modifying my car for maximum power, but some combination of power, driveability, reliability and so on.
  9. Britt - I don't have the MAF-T itself anymore. It was the first gen one. The person I sold it to told me that he had an electrician friend look over it and that it was "all out of whack" and put some bits back together correctly. In any case, if you look at Frenchi's 89 build, he installed the MAF-T Gen II and it had settings such that you could use a 1G MAS and he did that with his stock MAS initially. So, I might do that next Summer and run Delphi or Lucas injectors. The MAF-T Gen II like the apexi unit has much finer grades of fuel adjustment.
  10. I had a friend who had a professional project in Amman, Jordan a few years back. After the project was over, his hosts took him to their home village to show him a good time. He got to race motorcycles in the mountain and he said they took him for a ride in a built WRX that did all kinds of donuts in the sand...
  11. I should clarify - I have one pair of stock injectors that does not leak and one pair that does leak, especially from the secondary. My problem is that I also have two Conquests and would like to sell one to focus on the one in my signature. Anyway, everyone's ideas and thoughts have been very helpful in helping me think through what I can attempt.
  12. Bill, I appreciate your coming back to the thread and adding your ideas. I think I will eventually get to some mods, but my time is very chopped up due to my job and having a young child. I don't mind the challenge of figuring out tuning issues, but I usually only have a few hours a week maximum to work on the car. So, complex tuning stuff can mean my car gets stranded in my driveway for months. I have already gotten a 2G Mitsu MAS from the pullapart off of a low mileage Galant, that is the same MAS that was on the Eclipse. I think I will eventually get a MAF-T Gen II and use my 2G MAS similar to what Frenchi did in his 89 that was wrecked. It may just have to wait a year or two to make that situation work. For now, I think I can figure out something with the one pair of stock injectors I have that seem okay.
  13. BC_99 - So, I guess I spoke too soon when I said they were NLA. I do see them on that site you told me about. I also found them on oemmitsubishiparts.com - for $825.95!!! Now that I am Googling a bit harder, I am finding them on a few different Chrysler and Mitsu places for about $800 for the pair. That's too steep for me!
  14. If you check out scott87star's answer in my post, which is asking the same question, the news about Trilogy Turbo injectors as a totally stock replacement is not good. I think they are offered as stock replacements because they fit the fuel injector tophat and are close to the stock size in volume. http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=139862&do=findComment&comment=1387321 I can tell you that my test on my car was as follows - it came with Trilogy Turbo 650 / 950 injectors and ran lean at idle and part throttle. I took stock injectors off of a completely stock other (rusty) Conquest I have and the car instantly ran at the right AFRs. The previous owner installed a wideband, so I can see the results. The car on the Trilogy Turbo injectors ran 15.5 and above at idle. With stock injectors, it idled at 13.0 and did part throttle and cruise at 14.7. I even switched to some other slightly leaky primary stock injectors I had, and it still idled at 13.0-13.6 and did part throttle and cruise around at 14.7 ish. So, the car is running correctly, unless I switch back to the Trilogy Turbo injectors. You COULD try to look for some Python injectors. If you go to their Web site, you can find part numbers for stock injectors for the Conquest. There are a very few Python injectors left on various Web sites out there as far as I could tell. Those injectors, I THINK, are stock Conquest injectors that were cleaned and tested by Python. I shied away from getting some because of two reasons : 1) I found various posts on different car Web sites where people complained that they had to keep sending Python injectors back because of leaking and 2) I think eventually I will have to find a "tuning" solution, such as what you describe because all of the original stock injectors will eventually be leaking. Good luck!
  15. importwarrior - Thanks for the idea. I don't have a MAF-T on the car; it's a stock MAS. scott87star - Thank you for your input. You have confirmed what I have been thinking - that doing a really strong stock build is getting harder and harder because essential bits like injectors are NLA from dealers or Mitsubishi. I think I am going to have to figure out how to keep my stock injectors with my silver car and figure out something else with my red car. This has also got me thinking that I might need to research MPI for down the road.
  16. Bill, Thanks for your thoughts. The car had a GM MAF and MAF-T on it when I got it. As I grew dissatisfied with how lean it ran (and how that caused it to buck at part throttle), I decided to take the car back to a more stock like configuration. There were other issues too, but basically I put the stock MAS back on, put a stock cam back on plus mechanical rockers. The car does have a Walbro 255 lph fuel pump. In your opinion, could I install an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, bring the pressure up to 43.5 pounds (or perhaps up to 50 pounds) and then receive good AFRs from the Delphis? I am leery of going with another MAF-T - for now I'd like to keep the stock ECU and stock MAS because my car runs so nice on stock injectors (they just leak a tiny bit).
  17. Hey all! I am working on getting my injectors set up on my two cars, because I would like to sell my red 88. Here's the quick story - my silver 89 came with the Trilogy Turbos 650cc / 950cc Delphi injectors. I think they have around 3,000 miles on them maximum. The car always idled lean. I have a wideband AFR meter and I usually saw 15.5 to 17.6 on that at idle and partial acceleration. It did boost rich, dipping down into the 10s on AFR. Once the O2 sensor warmed up the car wanted to run at stoich, but if it cooled back off, it was back to lean. I pulled the stock injectors off my red 88. The silver 89 idled at 13.0ish and did partial throttle and cruise around 14.7. Perfect! Except now I need to sell my red 88 and give it back its injectors. I had a few extra injectors that came with the silver 89. I put each of two primaries on and got the same performance : 13.0ish at idle and stoich at cruise. However, my extra primary injectors have slight leaks from their plastic. My extra secondary injector leaks like crazy! When I swap the Trilogy Turbos back on, I get the same lean numbers. When I read on this forum, it seems like LOTS of people get lean numbers with the 650/950 Trilogy pair... So, I don't really have any stock injectors to use on my silver 89 and I worry that all stock injectors will eventually leak from their plastic bodies. Could I get a 750cc primary from Trilogy Turbos (or somewhere that offers a 750cc Delphi/Lucas) and perhaps have a richer idle and partial acceleration? My simple math said that the 750cc has a 16% greater flow than the 650cc. When I multiply that times my low end AFR number of 15.5, I get 2.5. Would that pull my idle back down to 13.0 or at least somewhere in the vicinity until the O2 kicks in? I know you can't really know until you put the injector on, but is that a reasonable guess?
  18. I've sent you a PM about a 750cc primary or possibly a set. I am having similar issues as vbrad511. Thanks.
  19. vbrad511 - they are just dripping from the tip. I don't think they are leaking on the outside or anywhere where the gas would then be leaking onto the outside of the throttle body. The leak from the tip didn't really cause any drivability issues, but I have gas in my oil again after just changing the oil 2 months ago, so I need to fix that. I think it was dripping gas down the intake, which was then eventually getting into the crankcase. I did take a lot of short trips (nine miles or less, which is the distance to my work) during the last two months so that probably exacerbated the problem.
  20. The reason I asked about rebuilding the injector is because when you look for injectors on Rock Auto, it lists the following : "GB REMANUFACTURING Part # 81116111 Remanufactured T/B Injector - Return and Rebuild Service Only - You send your part to be rebuilt and returned to you. We'll email shipping instructions after you submit your order." When I looked further into GB Remanufacturing, I found a site here - http://www.gbreman.com/ It looks like their primary business is remanufactured fuel injectors. BUT, after some more Googling, it looks like the GB Remanufacturing process is also just to clean them and call that "remanufacturing." I might call them next week to confirm. It did seem pretty cheap to "rebuild" them for $32. I do have two other primary injectors that came with the car. I am going to put those on and see how they do. There are several diesel service shops here in Charlotte, too, where I can get a pair cleaned if I can assemble a pair that doesn't leak. I will update this thread further when I have some more info.
  21. Hey all! This past Spring, I swapped on some stock injectors to replace the Trilogy Turbo injectors I had and my car ran much better. It went from running too lean (15.5+) at idle and light acceleration to running 13.0ish at idle and 14.7ish at light and moderate acceleration. However, two months ago, I found gas in my oil. I thought it was from lots of tuning I did over the Summer where I was probably flooding the motor, so I changed the oil and kept my eye on it. This past week, I discovered that I likely had gas in my oil again. I took off the OVCP and energized the fuel pump test port. When I looked at the injectors in the throttle body, the primary had a little drop of gas on the tip. This dripped off after a few minutes and a few minutes later another drop of gas was forming. So, I figure I have a slow leak in my primary. Both injectors were off of a stock 85k mile 88 and look a bit old. I hope this slow drip was the cause of gas in my oil. So, do I first have the injectors cleaned at a place like Witch Hunter or RC Engineering? Or, do I send them to GB Remanufacturing (which I found on Rock Auto) and have them rebuilt/remanufactured? Or both (if so, in what order)? Cleaning is $24 per injector. GB Reman will rebuild them for $32 per injector. I want to to do this right and I want to end up with dependable stock injectors. My experience with the Delphi injectors from Trilogy Turbos has been frustrating and a little bit of reading suggests that the wrong kind of injectors (and the Delphis are not designed for TBI) might never work. Also, I have done lots of reading on this site about leaking injectors (which brought up Python Injection, but I don't know if they still offer reman), but no one specifically addressed my question. Thanks!
  22. I just picked up a copy over the weekend. Very cool! Congratulations! They definitely loved your car - heck, they called it "the coolest car on the planet" if I remember right!
  23. Also to answer your other question... it starts up like a snap every time. It doesn't seem to run any rough cold and doesn't really settle down until it warms up. Before I switched the injectors, it did have a misfire quality to its running definitely.
