BrazilBoy
I found this and was thinking this may be a viable alternative. Quicker response perhaps... What do you guys think... http://www.thor-racing.co.uk/Barrel_Charge...T_-PWR_5221.asp OR http://www.pwr-performance.com/intercooler.htm http://www.thor-racing.co.uk/images/pwr_barrel_cooler_kit.jpg Edited May 20, 2009 by BrazilBoy
TainterRacing
That is an Intercooler. Any how they work very well if you can keep/ cool the water or what every the liquid is cool. Like for drag racing you pack Ice on the liquid to keep it below ambient temps that way its cooler then the air is. The ice will melt fast and the liquid will retain the heat better then an Air to Air IC. The only way to get around this problem on a street car is to do it like a SVT mustang does as they have a liquid to air IC they use the A/C just like a Freezer does it is used to cool the liquid to get well below out door temps and stay below. I say liquid as in there case water would not work its more like anti freeze as it can this way be below 32F and still work.
scott87star
The big advantage of a liquid to air inter cooler is pressure drop. It can be as little as 0.1 psi with liquid to air vs. 1-2 psi for air to air. It also allows more flexibility in your turbo to intake plumbing. Disadvantage is efficiency, air to air is more efficient so the ultimate temperature drop is higher. There is no wrong answer. Scott

button
I saw very consistent temperatures, but I dont have any data to back it up at the moment. If I used ice/waterin the tank (I always ran water, no coolant additives), I would see sub 90° intake air temps (read between the throttle body and intake manifold, you can see the sensor by the brake booster) If I just ran water, no other additives, I would see just over 100° intake air temps. I had a water to air IC, high flow pump, 1 gallon resevoir, and a modified oil cooler as an aftercooler. I still have the stuff if you want to buy it off me. I like the setup, it was quick spooling, I just havent had a chance to re-install it.
