The Next Generation Dodge Charger

Recommended Posts

I found this illustration of the Next Generation Dodge Charger. Like the brief article says, it looks like the '68 Charger.

You have to scroll about 1/2 way down the page.

I am very interested to see what the front and rear look like. I have not been able to find any pictures YET.

Personally, I do not like the look of the present day Charger or any of 'em since 1970.

Interesting article on why it was never built.

Certainly better than what is currently called a Charger. Now if Dodge/Chrylser engineers could just understand power to weight ratios they'd be in business. Any bets on what the weight of the new Charger would be.....4600....4800....5000....LOL.

I actually prefer the black rendering, the orange one makes me think Saleen Mustang from the side.....and I'm still trying to forget I ever saw the back-end.

that top one looks like a 71/72 charger, with the 68 door gills. I like it.

And, me personally, I like all the Chargers, but, once they went to the Cordoba body style (75), they were no longer a Charger to me...but, just another car. Same for the little turbo cars, and the new one. A Charger was never meant to be a 4 door...but, its what people want, so....

IMO they should have made the 4 door a Coronet, since they actually had 4 doors in that model...and, made a 2 door version, and called that the Charger. But, its all in what will sell...and, they have the Challenger as thier new flagship car...so...hopefully they stick around a while though.

And, though the Challenger weighs in at about 4500lbs, it can still go down the quarter mile at 13.3 seconds. Imagine that in a 2800lb car :)

I've never been close enough to a new Challenger to examine it, but I'd have to imagine that theres room for some weight loss. I think even the 70's Challenger's weighed in under 4k, ~3800 IRC.

I think the SRT-8 Challenger is around 4200 curb but the 4500 is probably pretty close with driver and gas. But yes, I would bet the 70's Challenger is lighter.

One more thing I might add that I don't like about the new "muscle cars" is the BIG friggin' wheels that they INSIST putting on 'em. It makes the cars look just................UGH!!!! (I wish that the throw up Avatar was still listed.)

Yeah, I know that this allows the car manufacturers to get a lower center of gravity, and bigger disc brake rotors.

Give me a set of 14's, 15's or the max size '16's. Thats it.
