psu_Crash
The 2 of us could have MPI in and running on the Tec-2 in a day if you have everything needed. Then you don't have to worry about the MAF at all

starquestJOE
ok small update, but one step closer. i drop my clearwater head off at my buddys machine shop to be freshened up. it has bein sitting in my basement for a year so. valves job, deck the head and new valve seals. i should have it back monday or tuesday. also i have to put in the fidenza flywheel i've had for a year as well
Dan
sqJ,You will really like the way the engine revs with the lightweight Fidanza installed. Might as well install a new heavy duty clutch setup while you're in there.
substock
how was the 57 trim on your car?i'm only putting a 17c on my car for a little while before i start looking at bigger turbos
starquestJOE
Dan a SQ wont rev really good 1-the turbo and 2- the flywheel. when i first got the car it had a 57trim and a tep stock lightened flywheel on it. and it had no problem free reving and goin to 6500 rpm's substock the 57trim was a great turbo. it spooled very quick as it had a stg3 63ar hotside. i would see 20-23psi by 2900rpm. i could not believe how much it woke up the car. the car still has the stock lightened flywheel now and stage4 clucth
Dan
These cars are a great platform to build from and I'm very happy with my Fidanza, ACT clutch setup w/Stedebani STS, 20G turbo, etc so I know it's a matter of preference of how far one is willing to go to gain hp/tq without scrapping the entire drivetrain & doing a transplant. Many swear by the lightweight billet flywheel and other parts (titanium cyl head components, Pauter rods, shaved and knife edged crank, billet crank pulley, etc) that are available lighter than OEM thereby reducing the rotating mass = quicker revs. I would do the findanza install in my SQ if I were to do it all over again. However, I'm on the fence about installing one in my Ram SRT-10 due to the obvious increase in weight... a different animal that delivers just as much fun! Decisions/Decision/Decisions. Back to the subject and best of luck with your build! Edited February 14, 2010 by Dan

Dan
Everything looked & torqued 100% so I re-installed the OEM bolts.
starquestJOE
ok thanks dan. i know some with dsm's use supra bolts, or a stud kit sold by forcedperfomance. and i've heard dont reuse the stock ones
Dan
Like most everything else, you gotta go the route you're comfortable with. The bolts, flywheel & clutch have been holding up great since 9/05... when I installed my rebuilt trans. Now that I think about it, I've had 5 StarQuest's (86-89 widebody) since 1997 with as many as 3 at the same time. You can say I'm hooked on these damn cars! psu_Crash
Joe where did you get that T3 adapter? Looking for one without the wastegate.
starquestJOE
i got it off ebay for $25. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/14B-16G-Turbo-Manifold-Mild-Steel-Adapter-To-T3-T3-T4_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem58861576a6QQitemZ380206675622QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories this would be your best bet. then you wouldnt need the treadstone manifold. and you wont have to really mod your down pipe and other stuff much. with the treadstone it moves the turbo down and forward. you already have the ext waste gate on your manifold so, why buy a new one Edited February 17, 2010 by starquestJOE

psu_Crash
Yeah I cant wait to get it all together! Hoping I can make my current SS oil feed line work, with an adapter if need be. Drain line is on it's way.
starquestJOE
i just got my feed line fitting. its 12mm x1.5 to 4an. and what are you doin for the drain. is it goin to the stock location or the pan
psu_Crash
I don't really like the idea of going to the pan in case while cornering the dump to the pan happens to not be above oil level and cause excess pressure in the turbo cartridge. I don't want to drill/tap the pan either and I don't think the line the separator dumps to is a large enough diameter. At least that's my thinking behind it. I see the turbo already had an adapter on it in the pics so I think I'll have to wait until it shows to check things out. So the threads in the holset are M12x1.5 and the feed line is 4an? Thought the fitting I have is 1/8NPT but I am not sure. Guess I'll have to start taking things apart and checking it out. Trying to come up with a way to use my 3" DP without cutting and welding a V-band to it. I do have v-band flanges though so it is an option. Trying to find something like this to adapt to the v-band on the BEP housing. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-5-T3-3-Bolt-To-3-V-Band-Adapter-Turbo-Downpipe_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem587a890a3fQQitemZ380012923455QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories Edited February 19, 2010 by psu_Crash
starquestJOE
i'm just goin to use the stock drain spot for now. the next motor will have it in the pan. as for the downpipe, i'm goin to remake it. i have a gen1 *DM from 7years ago. so i'm goin to add in a flex and vband flange at the turbo. that 3bolt to vband you posted should work great. or if you want when i cut off my 3bolt flange you could have it
starquestJOE
finally started workin on the car. got the turbo mocked up. now i can work on the downpipe and lines. i'm goin to run the ovcp for now and see how well it doeshttp://i713.photobucket.com/albums/ww135/starquestJOE/Pic0313.jpghttp://i713.photobucket.com/albums/ww135/starquestJOE/Pic0314.jpghttp://i713.photobucket.com/albums/ww135/starquestJOE/Pic0315.jpg

psu_Crash
Do you plan to grind down the lip on the compressor housing outlet? Or are you going to use a v-band on it? I ground mine 95% off and a 2.5" coupler fits great!
