Figured I would add some pics to show the road it took to get to where it was.....

When I first got it I swapped out a bunch of the rear suspension with newer stuff and got the brakes fixed. Also had to go back and fix the bad body work someone else did. Also found the rust was worse than I thought so I decided to just make it pretty for a couple of years.....

Anyway, its days are numbered, body wise. All the rust is coming back, but I knew it was too far gone to save. Also, a little incident with my hood flying off at the track did a number on the hood, cowl, and roof- she's looking pretty sad these days. Soon all the goodies will be going into a rust free southern shell and I'll start all over again LOL

Well, time to say goodbye.

The rusty frame was getting to the point of being unsafe to drive, so I got another car that's rust free out of TX and am having Jimmy do some swapping for me. Thanks Jimmy!!!!!!.

I'm happy for the new opprotunity, but sad to see 'ol Rusty go, in a way.

Anyway, here's how it looked after I dropped it off.....

88 Starion- rust free. will pretty much be the same mechanicly- pretty much just all my old stuff swapped in. I do have some pretty serious plans for the body and stereo tho.

I'll make a new thread for that when I get it home and start tearing into it in the upcoming weeks.

Stay tuned....

Looks like it's alot easier than fighting all the rust!

BTW did you fabricate your own diamond plating under the hood or did you buy it somewhere?? I like it.

Cut and welded it up myself :D Not the best weld job as it was my first time welding aluminum, but they turned out decent.

I'll bet you could make those & sale them pretty quick on this board...

I know something like that would look good on my car. I'd make my own but I've only welded steel... but don't have a welder anyway.

I bet I could sell some, but I'm unemployed now and don't work in the mold shop anymore so I don't have access to the tools I need to make them.

Tailights is VHT "Nite Shades" It's a spray tint for plastic lenses- about $10 a can.

The fog light turn signals are covers I made out of tinted lexan.

there are GP's on hemi heads all the time.... (all our heads are hemisherical except the gen4 magna)

thise badges are hard to come by these days unless you find them in a part yard.

I didn't know that. So... do you think one of those badges could be ordered NEW from Dodge?

I dunno if they can be ordered new or not. We found that one from a vendor at a car show. He sold nothing but old badges and nameplates. He only had one of the HEMI 2.6 badges and said it was theonly one he'd ever seen.

where do i get one of those hoods?

Gary used to sell them, but you can't get them anymore. I bought his the first 2 prototype hoods off him that needed some work.

Well, the 89 is finally been put out to pasture....
