I started with a pair of shocks from a 82-90 Supra : Mighty Lift - D95211 available at Autozone, and other stores.

I removed the Wiper motor and surrounding items.

I then took off the brake master cover and placed a towel over it so as not to get metal shavings into it

and to make room for the drill to reach the location, and moved everything out of the way on the left side.

I located the spot where I was going to place the right mount bolt, approximately 2 inches from the fire wall and approx 1 inch down.

Using a punch I make a center punch to keep the drill from wandering,

After Drilling and tapping the hole we check for placement and fit.

We do the same thing on the left side.

Checking for verticle placement on the hood itself.

After locating the approximate location in which the shock will fully compress with the hood, we drill and mount the hood side.

Checking for hood weight loading, the shocks work ! ! they hold up the hood.

These were used shocks from a junk yard so new ones would have more strength.

No More Hood Prop in the Dam Way ! ! ! you see it laying there on the rag across the battery.

Ya, thats pretty cool dude.

I remember a long time ago a member did this with

extra hatch shocks and they worked, but they were way up front more

in the way like the prop rod.

Think I may check into this

Rear hatch shocks like those are avail. new in JC. Whitney and others. I wonder which length & psi would best fit?

This could be a nice kit if somebody put all the bits n pieces together. Wouldn't take much.

Good job.

Next trip to the yard and i'll have to look into those hood shocks....or at least the mounting bolts and then get new ones.

Hey. Does it matter if the shocks are mounting one way ot the other.

I see differneces between. you two guys.

WoW I didn't expect such great replies I'm thrilled anyone even looked at this, Thanks everyone. And nice job on yours RUNVS !! gotta love not having that prop there huh~! though I forget I have shocks and reach for the prop when I open the hood still.

The bolts shown are the ones from the stock Supra, I just grabbed those when I picked the shocks off the bone yard car, not sure if they would come with a new set of shocks. As to the direction I spun the shock a few times and it doesn't appear to make a difference as to which way they point, the mounting on these just lent themselves to be mounted the way they are.
