After the VERY long road of the 1st cowl hood GP. I have debated on having more cowl hoods made. I have received inquiries every so often via email and have always said I'll get back to you all if I do decide to have more made. The time might be soon and this will probably be the only last chance left... but, will ultimately depend upon the seriousness of interest and committed individuals. The seriousness of interest is a commitment of a non-refundable deposit based on your actions. Example: You tell me you want a hood, you give me a deposit and 3 weeks later you change your mind and want your money back. NO, You do not get the deposit back. This is used to deter 'flaky peope'. Sorry but its for the ease of everything. If you commit you are in for as long as it takes to get a hood, otherwise don't bother. Patience is the key word and This worked very well in the last GP and no one seemed to have an issue with it. However if I an unable to provide a hood. Example: death of molder (he's old) I will entirely refund your deposit.

The current estimated GP Prices are Minimum 5 orders:

$75 dollar deposit that goes towards hood cost.

$335.00 for the hood.

$20.00 for a shipping box and supplies.

$40-60 shipping to your nearest greyhound bus station.

Money Orders or Paypal Only.

No custom/special requests on the design or materials - carbon fiber or anything of that sort, the answer is NO, NO, and NO. I have gotten quotes from manufacturers that claim they don't do the 'jap crap' CF and the prices go well north of fiberglass, even with me bringing th mold to them, so there's here is the public answer once again, NO.

IF this takes place the goal will typically be 1 hood manu'd per every 2 weeks as an estimate, they are hand laid fiberglass, the guy is old, yes but sorry they take time and delays can happen for multiple reasons. If this is a GO the 1st deposit is the 1st to get a hood, yes you may end up waiting a long time, even months IF there are that many people interested. The good part is all the needs to be done is for me to give the word to the molder to start the process. The MOLD is made and the intial pain of getting anything started from 'scratch' is done, no investments etc. Other delays may incur in the process such as ME or the Molder - for instance I travel frequently and have a family.

About the hoods:

-2 1/4 in cowl, It is functional (See pictures)

-The ridge on the hood is back filled so YOU can sand it flat if desired, don't ask me to do it.

-It is Hand Laid by a molder with over 25 year experience.

-6061 alum bar molded into glass to utlize bolt on stock hinge and latch locations.

-It is slightly oversized, as this is the best option as everyone's car might not be identical. Easier to take off than add.

-It is mildly sanded, not completely ready for finish (depending on how picky your are, it might be ready for paint).

-It will need to be sanded and prepped for finish and paint for or to your liking.

-There are no mounts for heat shield and the hood does not come with any heat shielding - you are on your own for heat shielding.

If you are not familiar with FG:

-It will not be the OEM look.

-Don't expect to bolt it on and it be perfectly flawless, There might be chips, pits, etc....They take work - sanding, filling, prepping, etc.

-Your best bet is to take it to a professional body man to get it done to your satisfaction.

And I know most of you are waiting for Carbon Fiber hoods becuz a few people have these big hopes and dreams of having them made... from china and all this gibberish... but they haven't happened yet, and most likely aren't going to happen, so you might as well jump on this because if you sit around waiting on carbon fiber, you're not going to get carbon fiber OR fiberglass.

Besides those carbon fiber hoods are going to have a fiberglass skeleton anyway. With these hoods you just won't be able to look like your typical "civic" or "silvia". Even if carbon fiber does come out, i will buy it... but i'm atleast going to get the fiberglass, becuz its a real thing. So get em now or forever hold your peice.

Yep, me too.

I was one of the ones waiting on the carbon fiber hood too. Please put me in on the cowl induction one, and if I do not find a good 83 hood soon I will also order the 83 one. But in any event, put my name on the cowl hood for sure. Please let me know thru pm what the address is for the money order.

Thanks!

John

I've got some larger pics at my mom and dad's on their computer... so I'll try to get them this week... but my avatar and signature pic will have to do. In the picture above, for some reason the cowl doesn't look as big. And my hood was just a prototype 8) I guarantee you will like these hoods!

Hi Dave,

If I recall right the stock hood was around 28lbs and the 83 hood was around 38lbs. The cowl hood is around 26lbs (I have seen 23-26.5). So its not substantial however I'm sure he can do lighter however it may offer more flexand/ Or if you dropped the stock latch and hinge brackets out and went with hood pins maybe another 2-5 lbs.
