brake master cylinder upgrade?

Recommended Posts

Any chance you have a part number for the brake booster and master cylinder. I have a brake booster from a SE-R Sentra that I've been parting out and it looks the same as the 240 one and I've checked some websites and some say its the same and some say its not.

did you guys see this master cylinder they are using in AU?

http://www.austarion.com/tech/brakeconversion.pdf

mate i used part number JB1775 which is for a nissan patrol 1992-95 rd28t turbo 2.8l 4x4

26.99mm

exactly the same size (bore) as the 300zx MC artinist was looking at.

bolts straight up to the booster all that was required was the push rod adusted and the rear line bent into place

pictures on my site

thanks

Jas

thats easier said than done. the holes are not square and wont line up with their mating part on the inside of the firewall.

i see...just thinking out loud i guess

i am still looking for a nissan part # for that patrol m/c. since the states never get any of the cool turbo stuff, would any pathfinder m/c work?

Check this out:

* Mitsubishi Starion master cylinders fit on AE86 brake boosters and just need the brake line to be bent. They are a 15/16th dia as well.

* Nissan R32 GTST/GTR master cylinders also fit on AE86s, and are either 1" or 1 1/16". These also come in some other large nissan, possibly a 4wd as the guy who i bought my Starion MC off had upgraded to the Nissan variant.

R32 brake booster??

most of those guys have rhd cars, which got a master/booster combo that is more conventional than ours. ours have the mounting bolts straight up and down, not horizontal like most other cars.

My question is, with a remote mount resevoir, does the master HAVE to be mounted, clocked properly? or can you "twist" it?

another question. Do the flatties have horizontal, or vertical masters? Cause the pics on austarion all show a horizontal booster/master mounting. Is that a rhd thing, or a flatty thing?

It seems as though that would work. It's a sealed system and as long as gravity is helping to keep the MC topped off with fluid from the reservoir, it should be fine. I don't think you could pull enough cornering G's to pull fluid out.

The only issue might be bleeding the brakes. It might be hard to get all the air bubbles out. I've never used one, but a vacuum bleeder might be able to eliminate that problem.
