Shifter Boot

Got mine long ago from JCWhitney.  Came with a steel mounting plate I didn't use, but it fit the stock mounting really well, looks great, and is a lot more durable!  Don't know if they still sell it, but they only had one or two genuine leather at the time.

No offense... but holy crap is that thing ever ugly!

My shifter boot is torn to shreds as well, but I don't think I will pay $30 for that thing.

There has got to be something else out there that is a little more asthetically pleasing.

Oh.

Dont I feel like the complete moron now?   ::)

I wouldn't feel that way, it was a good question.   I saw a pic of someones car with one of these on it sometime in the past.   If it wasn't for that, I probably wouldn't have bought one.

i bought my car with a leather one on it forma previous owner, i also think the whole interior is a custom job, but anyway, it was chincy thin stuff and the top layer has seperated from the bottom layer almost all over it, plus it is WAY too big it's like it was a fat shifter that got liposuctioned and never got the tuck and fold!

maybe i should get one

Still no shifter boot and today is the 22nd.  The stupid USPS tracking page says the same thing over and over, it never gets updated.  "Status is updated every evening, please check back."   Lies.  All lies!!! >:(

Well I finally got mine last friday or something.

In between kicking myself in the teeth w/ my stupid pop up headlight problem, I put on the shifter boot.

The thing barely covers the insulation on the bottom/top (depending on how you are looking at it) of the tranny.  When I go through the gears, I can see the insulation peeking out of the top left corner of the shifter boot.

Tight fit.  But at least I dont have tears in it.

Yes I installed mine as well.  I removed the console out of the car and removed the black trim ring around the shifter boot.   It took a bit of stretching but I was able to stretch out the boot and fasten it between the console and black trim piece by putting the screws that hold the trim piece through the leather.    It holds it real nice and tight.   My only problem is that the boot is kinda short.   It would look 100% with the original shift knob but I use a B&M T-bar handle.  So about 1-2" of the shift bar shows, but it still looks pretty damn good.

Also the burg. boot at JC Whitney matches the burg. leather interior perfectly!!

My shifter boot cost a bit more, but I'm happy with the results.

COZ & KEV,

I ordered my boot on 10/15 and I have yet to receive it!  ACK!  I look up on the website and it says it is in Chicago Depot!  I've tried to get ahold of the people at JC Whitney and no go...logged an e-mail complaint, haven't heard back yet!  what a PITA!

Yup, dont even bother clicking on the USPS tracking website.  Mine said it was in the same "HUB" every damn night.  Until it arrived at my door.

And then it still said it was in Jersey.  lol
