Banky
Has anyone with the fiberglass hood tried fitting the stock 83 hood plastic inserts into the side vent areas? I have a pair, and was curious if its possible. Justin
tux
i want to do that but i need the hood (and finish paying) and vents to try ;D
SQF
The side vent MAY work but the front scoop is modified to be more sturdy. I don't think the front insert would fit in the new and improved opening. I've never seen an insert out of the hood to be sure.
GPN
I do not see why you could not, it will depend how thick the hood is in that area. The thickness would determin how to attach the inserts, if there is enough material to cut the area under the insert flange to form a lip for the flange to rest on. Then it would be a matter of how to adhere the insert. If there is not enough material(hood thickness) then a bracket or more glass strips could be added to form a "nest" for the insert to rest in and held by. TM
Just FYI, the 2 side vents are not plastic, although the front, center one is. Since they bolt to the under bracing, I doubt you could use them in a FG hood. But I would think you could cut or paint the FG to make it look the same.
