tux Posted April 1 Report Share Posted April 1 Kind of at a loss here. She was running then died. I have spark, plugs look good. I have fuel, had too much due to a stuck/dead injector. Replaced with trilogy injectors. I see a spray during crank. Pulled VC, ensured the ping was almost to 12:00, timing mark on 0 and re-stabbed the dist. It will crank, almost catch (rarely) then crank some more. Tried adding/removing timing. Looking for ideas, at a loss. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
psu_Crash Posted April 1 Report Share Posted April 1 (edited) Sounds like it's not getting enough fuel. Are you sure the Trilogy injectors are the right size for an 86? tux Posted April 1 Author Report Share Posted April 1 Yep, checked one at a time with my phone recording into the TB while cranking. I pulled the plugs and they are kind of wet. I'll replace them and see if it helps in a few days when they arrive. while they are out, did a quick compression test and got 130-135 in each cylinder. Coolant test sensor tests good. After cranking a while it will almost start. Frustrating... psu_Crash Posted April 2 Report Share Posted April 2 I'm sure it is frustrating! Plugs are kind of wet? It still sounds like a fuel problem to me. I would put some gas in a spray bottle and give it a good dose then see if it tries to fire up and better. Have you had a timing light on it to make sure that is correct? gibbon Posted April 3 Report Share Posted April 3 hopefully this isn't your issue but I once accidentally disturbed the water jacket around the throttle body when pulling the top cap off to inspect the spray pattern. (4g63 admittedly). only got the occasional fire out of it when cranking, plugs were "wet" with what turned out to be fuel and water Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Problem #1 injector was dead/stuck open Problem #2 spark plugs bad (even though they sparked and I cleaned them up? Fix #1 - - 2x m6x25 bolts for top hat, - 2x m6x12 spacers2 - 2x Lucas INJ-01D142B (850cc trilogy branded) Fix #2 - New NGK 5553 plugs Not the problem/time wasters for me - adjusting mechanical lifters -checking timing visually -fuel pump -compression test -igniters -gnition coil -coolant temp sensor -plug wires -cap/rotor -hussin' n cussin' Edited April 6 by tux Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
