TexasQuest
I've been noticing wet spots behind the motor coming from the coolant pipe that wraps around the motor and goes to the heater core hoses. I replaced my heater hoses with silicone parts several months ago. I didn't start having a leak issue until recently so I tightened the hose clamps and that helped a little. I'm thinking the metal pipe itself is corroded so much it's not making a good seal anymore. Anyone possibly have a part # for a new one? I know it's a long shot....... TexasQuest
I have a FSM book here with me. I couldn't pull up the old part # database that was so useful in the past.
ucw458
Download it. On that site you can right click and save every PDF file. Then re-create it on your computer. The website may not be up forever.

techboy
I'm sure you could get a nice one in the Parts Wanted section here if you tried. In a pinch you could probably just eliminate the metal pipe and run a steel braided line in it's place with some -AN fittings. I think there's a tee on the front near the water pump if I remember correctly.
mikec
How did you remove the old heater hoses? The pipes poking through the firewall are pretty soft metal and easily deformed if you try to remove the old hoses by gripping with pliers, or twisting them, or just yanking on them. Once bent, it's very difficult to get new hoses to seal properly. They could be leaking near the firewall with the coolant dripping along the hose to that long metal pipe. On that large/horizontal metal pipe... did you scrape off old junk after removing the hose from it? There is typically a lot of corrosion buildup and grit that needs to be wire brushed away before installing a newhose. Using a sharp knife to slice the old hoses and then peeling them off the pipes is the safest way to remove them. Same technique should be used to remove the vacuum hoses from the thermo valve (black plastic 2-port vac valve near thermostat) since the thermo valve is super-fragile too. mike c. TexasQuest
No sir no hammering on those heater core pipes at all. Cut the old ones off with a razor knife carefully and cleaned all the pipe ends the best I could before installing the new silicone hoses. There is no wetness on the firewall under the pipes from the heater core, which leads me to believe it's the coolant pipe.
