well..this evening im going to start my drove from here in SJ to Wacksonville North Carolina in my quest. decided to take a few weeks of leave to see some family and friends over here and get my car outa Cali. ive had enough of the trying to "pay for smog" so im going to take it out of cali. And hopefully enjoy some nice long road, maybe some scenery along the way. Ive got about 5 days do manage this trip..should be more then enough time.

taking a pit stop at a place called Needles. right at the border of Cali and AZ. its about 120 degrees right now. and goin up n down these little slooping hills was nothing for the car in this weather. it never went above half on the gauge...but i need to retune the car now.. its running super lean and my wide band o2 sensor is out right now. im pretty sure its because its hot as shyt outside right now.. i should be able to get a decent conservative tune while on the fly..its not going to be super accurate thought which i hate. but at least its something for now.

A couple of years ago I spent a week in Jacksonville (aka turdville) and the next Monday I was in SF, so a little like your trip. Its still quite a feat to go from atlantic to pacific. But I flew instead :/

Enjoy the trip! If you need any help, just post up here and someone will be able to help!

I think he's only tuning with a MAF-T. There's no way for it to adjust for air temp, but an ignition on/off/on cycle every once in a while should keep the baro in range. Perhaps even doing it very often if climbing/descending large hills.

And you had to stop in Needles on the day they broke the heat record there ! yea mang 120 deg in Needles yesterday , 118 deg in Vegas , summer is early , three years ago Spenser/Gtxthunder driving a black 83 flatty Starion and myself in black 88 Conquest did the same trip from Las vegas to NC , we had a blast ! after Spenser went his way to Maryland i really got the hammer down through V.a and NC ( he was slowing me down :) ) but if i may give you a "heads up" , keep it steady and under the limit through Texas , iv'e done many cross country drives in various Starions and Conquests over the years and NEVER made it through Texas without a trooper pulling me over and indeed this was the case on the trip with Spenser , be safe man and enjoy the adventure , these cars are fabulous for this kind of journey . :)

yea im doin adjustments with a maf-t. everything is goin fine so far. Im in Santa Rosa NM right now. about to pass out for a few hours before i hit the road again.

and yea...Needles was freakin terrible...the car handled the heat extremely well..but i didnt..right when i got off the highway to find a place to stay. my shirt was soaked in sweat. but i did stay at a place with a pool..and that felt great!

ill let you guys know if i keep the tradition goin on getting stopped in Texas. i shouldnt cuz ive been cruzing at 70 the whole time...but yaa never know...they might just want to pull me over cuz its a starquest or something.

Hey thanks Jason. I will.

ain't it the truth rain , snow , fog it don't matter people want to drive 5 + over the speed limit no matter what the weather conditions , I know I make some mad but I ALWAYS leave plenty of room between me and the car in front of me and have been know to tap the brakes to get a guy off my rear bumper

last accident I saw was 7 car all rear ending the one in frt of them ,, and the last guy hell he never even hit his brakes , he never saw the other 6 cars stoped in the road lol he personaly totaled 5 of the cars him self

i remember when i was driving out to kingman AZ on the 40. i was in new mexico and going the opposite way

was a ford Pinto and looked to be 3 mexicans in it followed by 2 cop cars with their lights blazing.

those guys didnt pull over at all. they just kept going as far as i could see.
