mitsustar86
so I've had steering wheel shake for a while now and I have replaced Center drag link outer tie rod both front wheel bearings and sway bar end links still need to replace struts inner tie rods idler arm and pitman arm anybody have any ideas what it could be. Also the shake in the wheel is gone except when I hit bump or going around corners with bumps. Front tires are new too.
mistapickles
what were the steps you used replacing the wheel bearings? and did you replace the whole wheel bearing?
mitsustar86
I did everything except the races. They seemed good. It feels like passanger side wheel that is shaking.
mistapickles
visually seemed good doesn't always mean actually good. I had a similar situation with my bearings except I changed my races, my issue was that I didn't tighten them enough even though they seemed tight enough. Your issue could be a combination of that and the races.
psu_Crash
If you can't find the issue then get an alignment done. A good shop will find the problem.Did happen to throw a wheel weight did it?
mitsustar86
I get it aligned regularly. Wheels wheights are good. When I get a nice dry day ill go grab two more bearings and redo the pass. Front. Also am I able to remove and install the races by myself? Do they make a tool for that? mistapickles
all you need is a small punch and a hammer, if you look at it from the backside you'll see notches cut out so you tap them out. Also, have you looked at your steering coupler? how much play do you have in your steering wheel?
mitsustar86
When my car isn't moving it has about 11oclock to 1oclock of play maybe less. Where is this steering coupler located? And can I buy them at a normal parts store?

psu_Crash
The steering couplers are no longer available from Mitsubishi and I'm not aware of any aftermarket versions. But it wouldn't hurt to look around.
mistapickles
steering coupler goes between the steering box and the column... The brake assist leaks on it sometimes and it destroys the rubber in the coupler, it'll make a wobble... Starfighterpilot
I'll almost bet money that it's the passenger side idler arm bushings which are worn out. You can still buy them from Rock Auto. For What It's Worth. KEN
mitsustar86
sometimes I can also hear a clunking from the right front when I go over bumps. When I bought my car it rode like a cadillac now its no better then my roommates slammed civic lol.
Technology
Tighten the top nut on the shock. It's in the engine bay. Get an alignment. When you replace parts in the suspension or lower it or change it in any way, you are almost guaranteed to take it out of perfect alignment.
