tux
Due to issues with fitment (around MPFI components), I want to have AN lines coming off the heater box's brass pipes, so I can just have 90's screwed in and avoid having to be a contortionist with my hands if I have to replace anything. How well do you think epoxy would hold up to water temp/pressure? If so, which epoxy would probably hold up the best?
scott87star
Used JBweld to save a fishing trip to Canada once after a freeze plug blew out of our Mercruiser. That said, I'm not sure I'd trust anything long term IF you're talking about shear strength (no lip or taper on the pipe).
tux
I've used jbweld to hold over things before that needed repair but yea, this would be more of a long term thing. I would see about brazing the aluminum to steel together, but i don't particularly want to pull the dash.
mr-starion
If the lines are brass why not put some npt threads on there and solder them on? Npt to an fittings after that, still, alot of work lol
ucw458
The heater hoses 90 down anyway. I used hoses on mine and haven't had any problems. Besides you will have trouble with the soft brass heater core tubes. Hard mounting anything to them risks bending and kinking the tubes. People mess them up just trying to get the hoses off. Add a couple wrenches to that and you are sure to kink them.
tux
I completely forgot most npt fittings are brass >.<
Metric-man
If you still want them mounted on the firewall there are Billet Specialties push on to hose.http://www.dreamershotrods.com/billetspecialtiespush-onheaterbulkhead.aspx Or Earl's compression to AN fittings.http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EAR-165010ERL/?rtype=
tux
the earl's would be good, but i'd probably have to fill it with epoxy (the end is all chewed up and not exactly round)
