Mounting brackets for louvers

Be careful as I believe there are 2 different styles of at least the bottom brackets. One employs a spring loaded dead bolt arrangement, and the other a dzeus type fastener. Don't know if this was model year dependant or different manufacturers. The shades or louvers were a dealer installed option, and one of the styles may have been an aftermarket equivalent.

These are the less common type which use a dzeus fastener on the bottom corners. The bracket you are looking for would have a stiff, heavy gauge wire attached to a S/S plate. You could likely obtain the wire from a full set of fasteners, but how it fastens to the plate might be the issue. The slotted end of the screws in the corners of your louvers would go over the wire and rotate 1/4 turn to fasten the louver corners down. The upper hinge brackets appear differnet also. In fact it looks as though you have 1/2 the hinge still attached to the louver. The other style use a metal hinge which is rivited to the louvers. I wish I knew the story of the 2 styles, but I know the other style had Mitsu logo stickers on the left side of the bottom louver, and likely built by a company named Chastain. Do your louvers provide clearance for the rear wiper? Don't know how much you have invested in these, or their condition, but you might find it easier to find a set that was comlete or of the other style, as I believe they were more common. GL!

Wow thanks for all of that information. I didn't know any of that so I really appreciate you taking the time to explain it to me. I'll have to check if they provide clearance for the rear wiper though. Yeah you're right. It might be easier to find another set but unless I happen to stumble across one at the junk yard, I'll most likely continue to look for these brackets. Thank you though! :)

Thoser are not the style I've seen before, but it's possible these brackets would be common with other car models. The style I'm familiar with are more specific to our cars as the upper bracket fits under the hatch hinge, and the lower mounts have a loop that the slide pin on the louvers engages. Both the hinge and slide pin were pop-riveted to the louvers. The style you are looking for appears less model specific and might have been universal. Good luck!
