Looking for Raised White Letter tires for my 83

This is my 83, it currently has white lettered tires in the back and just blackwalls on the front. The back tires are shot and have to be replaced asap.

I am thinking that a full set of raised white letters would work for this style of car. But i am having a heck of a time finding tires in the 195/70/14 size. I have called some places in town and they are going to do some looking for me.

Looking online i am only able to find the size 205/70/14 with the raised white letters. According to this site http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html the larger size leads to an increase in diameter by .6 inches.

Anyone have any thoughts on my situation?

My 84 originally came with RWL tires and it looked real good. I debated the same thing you are and went with the best performing tire in the stock size i could find which happened to be a plain sidewall. BF's Traction TA.

So its either change size, or paint the lettering yourself.

Why not just run the 205/70? You'd hardly notice the difference in look and it'd handle a little better.

I am starting to think about this idea more lately.

One of my friends suggested this idea too, i'd feel kinda cheesy painting my tires.

I had Grand-Am Radial GT's in the stock size on mine and i've seen them on a few other cars around town even recently. It's been a while since i bought them so maybe they stopped selling them in that size but i bought them specifically because they had raised white letters, tire place had to special order them.
