miamipops
wipers seemed to be sluggish. Opened up the motor and it is dried up and nasty. Of course when I put it all back together it was wrong. The wipers would stop in the vertical position. hahahahttp://i892.photobucket.com/albums/ac126/miamipops/Picture006.jpghttp://i892.photobucket.com/albums/ac126/miamipops/Picture007.jpg

Guest
Yo, that thing was still working?! That's a hell of a motor! More pics of it cleaned up?
Wolf87Conquest
To be that cruddy and still work at all...you got a good strong motor. A good clean up, replace lube, check it electrically (good continuity) should be all it needs. Make sure you keep polarity correct. The motor's communtator may need a good cleaning, good motor brushes and brush springs, motor bearing lube it will be good to go for many years. General clean up and lube on the wiper arms would be a good idea as well. An electric motor repair shop should have brushes, brush springs and bearings if any are needed. Coke
For those looking to rebuild their wiper motor, what sort of lube should we be re-packing it with? Edited March 21, 2011 by Coke
ucw458
I used brake caliper lube because it doesn't dry out as fast and doesn't melt away.
The Rabbit1
PQ suggests wheel bearing grease, I think I used regular (not white)Lithium grease on mine.
ColdScrip
On the gears I'd say any grease. In the center di-electric grease since that is where connections are made.
miamipops
I used the di-electric grease and bearing grease on the gear. I do not know how to open the motor up to service it. Does anyone have pics of that?Pete

creakyjoints
This is truly strange. I just did the same thing to mine this weekend. Only it didnt really help for me. When I reinstalled it was still slow but after it moved for awhile it slowly started to get faster? It is really loud to. I guess the motor is really worn out? creakyjoints
Thanks Rabbit. I checked and my plastic cowl piece on the passenger side moves with the wiper arms! Living in Seattle wipers are a must have. Edited March 22, 2011 by creakyjoints
