QuestFan
So I want to put in an aftermarket boost gauge in the stock location. What I need to know is what have other members done to make this work and which gauge should I use that would blend in with the rest of the gauges? I dont want it to stand out, I want it to look factory. Other info you may need:1987MPI EDIT: Also, what size gauge do I need to use? starquestG54B
http://i671.photobucket.com/albums/vv73/conquestinator/durbansnewwheel.jpgjust run the vac line thru your firewall and hook it up up to the vac line closest to the firewall on your tb then pull your gauges out. remove the stock b gauge and cut the white pvc plastic behind it . make a large enough hole to get the vac line in and DO NOT vut the green curciut baored film behind it and light in. then put the new b gauge thru the black plastic surroundsand hookit all up then put it all back together. this should also be in faq's section a good cheap b gauge doesnt look bad just no white ones or it will look stupid. BC_99
The 2 1/16" is the right size. So, dont cancel your order. You need to "search" for the write up on how to do this easy mod and then if you have any more questions, post them up. Most of these kinds of write ups are very detailed and can save you from being misinformed like that. BC_99

Austin88ESiR
Thanks for the info. I did find the write up I needed and it helped tremendously.Yeah, it is not very hard. I have an old school HKS in mine that matches the original gauges. http://www.beyonddarwin.com/Starion/starionpics/webinstrumentcluster.jpg

QuestFan
Man I that prosport gauge I ordered was too deep. It's the electric one not the mechanical. So I just stuck a Sunpro narow band A/F Ratio gauge in there for now untill I get a wideband. I put the boost gauge below my radio.
D_Venable
I run the mookeeh gauge overlays, and put a GlowShift gauge in the flatty. It was also a little deep, but the face of the gauge was back far enough I just cut the barrel back, and the opening in the black plastic was just right. The gauge sits all the way back onto the white plastic as well. While cutting the can though, the needle on the gauge broke, so I modded the stem of the glowshift needle, to accept the stock boost gauge needle (repainted the backs) http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P8150592.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P8150591.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P8150589.jpg
techboy
Just a side note for anyone ... I had a set of Prosport guages for my Eclipse at one point. I was not impressed. There's a reason they are cheap. I ended up going back to Autometers.
Cole
i just found an Auto Meter gauge that I'm goingt o buy to put into the stock place. In my opinion, this one would best blend w/ everything. The needle isn't orange but chromish. The only thing that would stand out a bit is the carbon fiber.http://d5otzd52uv6zz.cloudfront.net/2b008681-ea28-4691-907e-78fff083269d-800.jpg
BrazilBoy
http://www.racetep.com/starbg.html What they forgot to mention is to gap the gauge cluster lens a little so the gauge itself doesn't contact cluster lens causing spider cracks.. Yup, had that same problem, I just didnt crank down on the screws. But it does not matter now since I have a prosport evo series wideband in there. 81zfan
In the above "how to" it shows that you cut the circuit film when installing the gauge, but won't cutting this cause other things in the cluster not function correctly. I have been searching for a write up as well, and the only one in the FAQ'S tells how to hook the vac. up to it.

Either get an electric boost gauge or just be careful not to cut into any of the circuitry when making a hole in the film.

Lance_S
Can anyone give me a depth for how much room is back there. Getting ready to change the boost gauge out and want to know what to order.
AustinTSI
Does anyone know for sure if a 60mm gauge will work. The normal size people use is 52mm but I have a specific one that is 60mm that I want to use and don't know if it will fit.
