drummer030201
Hey everybody, Recently my MK1 AHP has been comin off like crazy, just cant keep that bugger sealed in the coupler. So, i am lookin for a new AHP intake. If i recall a few people are running prelude intakes, but i am unsure of what year Any suggestion of what AHP intake to run would be fantastic thanks in advanced ~Muzzy
TexasQuest
I believe they are using the early 90's model intakes. They're about $30 on ebay I believe.
FijiPhil
I have a *DM intake that has always worked great.

JustPaus_88TSi
There must be some tension in the way you're running it or the way it was designed, as its not blowing off from pressure. Have you tried angling it differently? I'd probably just have someone throw some spot welds on it or run a full bead around it so the clamp can't slip off. drummer030201
its the turbo side of the pipe that keeps coming off. the pipe itself just doesn't gove deep enough into the coupler to be able to get it to stay on.
dmyers151
It's the 86-91 (I believe) Prelude intake you want Muzz. They are literally $10 or less on eBay. Looks like this installed with a GM MAS:http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4054/4673570090_58793c5486_b.jpg
TexasQuest
Sounds like you need a longer coupler for more of the pipe to clamp into.
Killtodie
Worn out coupler? Bad angle, maybe some vibrations loosing it up. Can ya post a pic?
87Black_Stallion
Are you using the MK1 coupler with the factory rubber insert?
drummer030201
yea im using the factory rubber insert...it doesn't fall off the turbo ... the pipe comes out...ill take a pic with my phone and post it after work...
JustPaus_88TSi
I'd guess you're using the stock air can that's still mounted, which doesn't help the situation as the pipe pulls out of the coupler under engine revving/torque. I'm not sure if the prelude pipe will be a benefit.
drummer030201
well here is my set up and how the pipe looks after it comes off... http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff53/drummer030201/Photo05221717.jpghttp://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff53/drummer030201/Photo10181557_1.jpgright there u can see separation...................................................................................................^^^^^ obviously open..............................................................................................................................................................................................................................vvvvvhttp://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff53/drummer030201/Photo10181557.jpg
Killtodie
That pipes looks to be angled too high. It should be more flat. Might be hard trying to rotate it with a stock air can, but loosen up both ends, make the pipe sit a bit flatter going into the turbo and then rotate and tighten the air can. See kinda how I have it, suprisingly I dont have better pics to show though http://lh4.ggpht.com/_DE6W0quWtjY/StARz1cw8QI/AAAAAAAALIg/oqL_Ezmxwn0/s800/IMG_6551.JPGhttp://lh6.ggpht.com/_DE6W0quWtjY/SsbcHzKsyyI/AAAAAAAALEg/JdZvishaUOM/s800/IMG_6519.JPG Edited October 19, 2010 by Killtodie

Big Al
I had a similar issue with my OVCP of course due to pressure not vibration or anything. Stuck a pair of t-bolt clamps on it and hasn't popped out since.
Killtodie
stock air can or not, I still find it hard to get it just right, little wiggle room. try attaching the pipe to the turbo first, make it nice and tight and then attach the aircan. might want to move all the other pipes out of the way.
