VICE
So theres a Universal Fuel Sending Unit in the tank we just put in there to match the Gauge's Ohm's, it's 8 and a half IN. long, we measured the stock unit to be around 9 or 9 and a half. Seems like it's always going to hit Empty and still have some gas in the tank, how much gas I would like to know but it's kinda like having a reserve tank, we'll see how this works out if not a diferent and adjustable Sending Unit will have to be used. This one is from Jegs and it's a universal tubular style sending unit. Well the headlights wont come down lol or did we raise them up manually.. Anyhow they don't seem to have any power or ability to move (Yes the motors were fine) this seems to be the ONLY electrical problem we have currently in the SQ. Someone said earlier on that it's the TYPE AR-16 relay that brings the lights back down, anyone know what is the exact place that relay goes in? VICE
Not yet taken out for the first test drive, today the red top Optima decides to take a crap and die so went to Auto Zone for the Warranty and it was purchased on 08/2007 so its just been 3 years for the free replacement so they gave me a prorated $90 back for the red top and I got a DuraLast Gold one for $94 and it started right up and tomorrow is a new day. And quite frankly I am pretty conformed with the three years the battery life has lasted. Edited October 1, 2010 by VICE
VICE
Alright-- So I guesstimate about 200 miles on the engine of test driving this past week, stock clip speedo cable broke off the threaded Auto Meter few days ago, ordered one from ROCKAUTO.com N just got it in today, has to resume counting miles it only got aroun 14 miles till it broke off lol nooo theres no telling exactly how many miles have been put in!! Plenty of accel deccel is fun.. I am NOT driving it like it's stolen like the Motodudes suggested it's getting pampered like a virgin MAJOR breakthrough on the MEGASQUIRT front!! Thank God we needed that brake. It is Acceling like it should be, taking off nice and fast nice and hard lol, cruising on 13 to 14 on the wideband and nice an 10 11's under accel!! VACUUM pulls ONLY so far!! MS rev limiter set to 4000. About 300 more miles then raise it sum and actually start boosting! OH and these VE tables look much better than the original MS tables we tried to make work for the past 2 years... some fine AE tuning (Thanks all you MS guys in herre that lent some knowledge and I must say DIYAutoTune.com has OUTSTANDING tech support with fast responses. We'll make a video and zoom in on some readings and post it up on a test drive.. NO oil leaks! One nasty power steering leak thats been there for a while I'll end up getting a reman PS pump from AutoZone, ONE dead Red Top OPTIMA battery that lasted 3 years and 2 months last week, 5MM Spacers were added to the front wheels and CLEARS the TIE RODS amazingly! (Picked up at your local Rent N Roll for $10 a piece!) The Suspension feels Pristine, Mustang Poly bump stops really made a BIG difference! Brakes good all and all A OK! --Well the Pop Up function seems to have dissapeared and the lights to the A/C controls have faded to black BUT the controls still work! Just got an alignment today at STAGE 2 for $50, I was there at 8 AM right when everybody got there and waited for about 2.5 hours but well worth it. All JB is holding up very nicely! -Snuck out the house last night at about 4 in the AM and took a very nice ride for a few hours and the temperature was the cold front of October weather and feels great she was riding at 150-160 on the temp. The fuel gauge is very short it seems, might have to get an adjustable one, this one is only 8n1/2 in. long and doesnt seem to read the bottom of the tank making gauge movement seem to go fast. Not many people around till next week for Biketoberfest but the ride was nice and smooth, very pleasant and great temperatures again last night.. The ride feels great now with the Alignment. VICE
Update Report: Running very nice and chill at around 162-168 at night with the temperature around 60 outside and no A/C compressor or alternate electric fan (Only Elec. fan!) turned on however with the AC on it tends to want to heat up a lil bit to 170 - 190 at night and hits 200 a lil during the day. Normal running temps for the G54B are 195 when the OEM Tstat is supposed to open and run to like 210 I believe tho I always liked getting the lower temp Tstats like the 160 and 180. Just drove to auto zone and got me a bottle of water wetter lol mmm sounds nasty and waiting for her to marinate down to a cooler level then I'll make her squirt out a lil bit of coolant through her drain nipple lol and try the wetter out for the first time as well might I add. Went to Wal Mart first I worked there for a few months in 09 before Holiday season and stayed through black friday that was fun anyhow Wal Mart did not have the Watter Wetter they had some other one it was green for like $6 and the wetter is $9.99 at the Zone. VICE
About 650 on the Odometer and an additional 500 miles that will always have to be added to the formula lol due to clip style speedometer cables braking, so far so good... NO Engine leaks just a slight leak from the MookeeH short throw shifter that we are trying to figure out, first it leaked from the metal to metal contact we fixed it with some gasket paper and now it seems to be leaking from the top area where the Shifter goes out off, perhaps its spewing out the excess .6 of Gear Oil? 3 Quarts were added. Oh and the Mookeeh Short Throe Shifters don't come with the 2 lil pins that rest on the tranny shifter mount so we took the ones from the OE shifter out and put em in the tranny with some RTV but STILL seems to be leaking slightly on the driveshaft which spins it all over the place but from underneath it looks like it's dripping from the bottom of the 2 rear threded piece on the tranny that the shifter bolts go in.. MEGA-(DETH)-SQUIRT FRONT: It appears that the SQ is only getting an estimated 11 miles per gallon. Still cruising mild brief boosts of about 5 - 10 psi no WOT yet and Rev Limiter is still at 4K. I'm no Mathematician but about $53 of 93 Octane Gasoline to fill it up, at about $3.02 a gallon and 204 miles on the Odometer after a nice long ride around town last night and the weather was gorgeous might I add, temperatures stayed at a nice 155-160, rode around with a sealed 5 gallon Gas container I just picked up with an external hose and 3 gallons in there, rode around till it sputtered some and filled it up before it starved from UnLeaded. Oil Pressures are at over 100psi on startup and don't really go under 75 while cruising, 50 - 30 at the lowest on idle. VICE
Hey only the HIGHEST standards were set for the engine, (other than laking a port and polishon job on this head) and possibly further tuning, great standards were practiced with everything else on the rebuild, the car might need some professional body work and paint in the future but that is all it is really lacking from my point of view. Scotty Dont
Do not take this in the wrong way but You are oblivious about the poor workmanship, the jbweld is the most obvious but what about the things we can't see from pics like torque specs, fit up, etc.
VICE
Well speaking of Torque specs, I just Re Torqued the ARP Head Studs again this morning at 92 LB's for the 4th time lol 3 bolts turned slightly. No kidding on the Ajuzas needing a few Re - Torques.. I shoulda taken and posted a pic of the actual Weld on that Aluminum Magna Thermostat Port but it's holding up very nicely for good, if anything another Tstat Neck would need to be replaced (like 10 bucks at auto zone choice of Turbo coolant passage or not 84> or 84< ) as the old one broke off as it was being mallete'd for removal.. Like I said earlier this Magna had been welded in the past and I did not want to keep getting it welded. Edited November 2, 2010 by VICE
