Exhaust pictures post em

Recommended Posts

Here i have 3" exhaust, turbo back. No cats, Flowmaster 40, and, yes, dual tailpipes :P When you're standing at a normal height, you can't even see the pipe going across...lol

And, don't mind the sticker my exhaust simply painted over.

Not the best pic but I had a dc sport muffler with a 4.5" tip but that tip fell off and I welded on a 3" piece of pipe painted it black and wrapped it in a Four locos can.

small sound clip, this was on my old block that had failing rings in the #1.

here is a stubby turndown exhaust i made for candis car, she has upgraded to tmans old 2.5 exhaust. i believe MUZZ and tom are headed this way to pick up this exhaust cause muss is down visiting tom and his exhaust let loose. this this is super easy to install and not that loud at all.

i did make it a tad too long and it rubbed the crossmember, we just never bothered fixing it cause it really didnt rattle enough to bother you. if you look in the background at my car, i was running a turndown back then too.

now my honest opinion about exhaust. you can very easy build it yourself if you already have the tools and general knowledge of what your doing. herb a local member built his 3" himself and it came out great and i am sure he will chime in shortly with pics of it.

but, JR has a AWSOME pre-built 2.5 and 3 inch exhaust at pretty decent prices, and i think i would probably just in the end buy one of his and spend time on other things.

Star-Orion (Jolyrgr, aka JR) 2.5" stainless exhaust with a Magnaflow muffler sitting next to my old muffler shop bent 2.5" Flowmaster system. The Magnaflow is MUCH quieter inside the cabin, but the Flowmaster was quieter outside the car, ironically. They do offer a 3" system.

I had to do a little custom work with the hangers as I was using an 18" muffler rather than the recommended 14". The kit is setup to hang the muffler towards the front of the car. Due to the length of my muffler, it rests directly below the factory hanging point. I had to use a self tapping screw into the bumper support to hang the muffler at the rear. It is not as aesthetically pleasing, but it works well.

Here's a pic of the exhaust I made. It's a 2.5" downpipe, then increases to a 3" exhaust. Straight open with an angled tip. I think it sounds really good, and always seem to get compliments on it.

  • 7 months later...

ive got what appears to be a TEP 2.5" DP, then after that its 2.5" all the way to a magnaflow muffler.

There IS a wideband bung welded in just a few inches forward of the flex section so now its just a matter of finding a good place to run the wiring into the cabin...

And here's what the new stuff replaced...

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b287/RX-7-88/Mobile%20Uploads/Photo01281012.jpg

not pictured is the crappy section of 'stock' pipe that was run off the DP to a cat, which was then made larger to 2.5 to run to that hideous bend work to the muffler. Lesson learned: Do NOT let a 'tuffy' muffler shop touch piping.
