Technology Posted May 22, 2010 Report Share Posted May 22, 2010 Pretty much the same as a wheel speed sensor. I thought it had more to do with raising the idle slightly until the car has come to a stop more than ABS, but I don't know for sure. psu_Crash Posted May 22, 2010 Report Share Posted May 22, 2010 Pulse sensor has nothing to do with the idle. It's only function is with the ABS. It uses that pulse as a reference for engaging the ABS. Without that your ABS light will stay on and you have zero ABS. It won't hurt anything but the light is annoying. 89PalermoSHP Posted May 22, 2010 Author Report Share Posted May 22, 2010 (edited) ok... i had gathered from other posts that it only deals with the abs. what about the speed sensor? where is this located? when i look up parts at autozone it shows two different parts, an input and an output. the way my car acts it wouldnt surprise if mine were bad. The Rabbit1 Posted December 8, 2010 Report Share Posted December 8, 2010 the reed switch is very easy to change, just need a phillips for the pickup, first set of plastic teeth come out by hand, and a small hammer and drift punch to switch speedo head and/or shaft with secondary plastic teeth.
