88enigma
Well guys, i was planning on going with an sr20det, but, i came across a pretty good deal and took it up. I bought a ka24de. the plan is to boost it with eagle rods and im unsure piston wise what im going with. take care of the biggest weak point before adding power. the motor came with a brand new equal length top mount turbo manifold, perfect for a custom down pipe to make sure i clear my steering. just wanted to let every one know. more up dates to come in time. wish me luck

BOOSTED88tsi
hate to sound like a hater, but this swap doesn't sound good.
tehzack
ka-t ftw!! I had a 93 coupe 240 with a bottom mount gti-r t28 on 8lbs and it would effin murder my conquest lol. Forged rods/pistons and you'll be set. For the ECU i'd def go with a nistune board, its cheap as heck and you get most of the tuning of a full standalone. You'll find EVERYTHING you'll ever need to know about ka-t stuff at ka-t.org http://s107.photobucket.com/albums/m316/QuickShotxMLx/?action=view¤t=SMOV0047.flv I miss mine so much. Dave-O
I like boosted truck motors and all, but if I was going to keep one, it would be the stock forklift motor we had in our cars originally. I'm interested to see how this swap goes though. I'm a KA fan, it's quite an underdog.
88enigma
thanks guys. the mounts seem pretty close. the real fun is gona be the wiring, but im not runing a/c so i'm gona run the wiring harness through the same place the ac lines run into the cab. the motor i got came with a brand new unuse equal length stainless top mount manifold. as for ecu's im gona have to look back at the nistune, i was gona go with an sr20 before i got the ka, but i gotta check agine to see if they have anything for the ka. so far i been thinking about a JWT ecu or Greddy E-manage. the idea of getting another 4g54b went through my head, but i wanted something that i know can make over 500whp easy if i wanted. plus i have more knowlage hands on with ka-ts. the bottem end will have eagle rods and im not sure on pistons yet, but i will be going with an SPA 6000 series turbo. my friend has a conection with S-MAX and im going through them for the turbo and front mount. i know with a built bottem end these motors will handle 16+lbs and be 350-400hp. plus the weight is simular to the 4g54 so i wont have to do a lot od weight distribution like with an sr. the car will be for daily driving but also time attack and autocross events. thanks for the love so far, and BOOSTED88tsi, dont worry about it. we all got our own ways, this is mine. tehzack, nice coupe, clean, ran strong, and sounded good. what set up motor wise? tehzack
138k stock motor, SSAC/X02/egay bottom mount manifold, GTi-R t28, 8lbs, SR 370cc injectors, 3" exhaust, White bunny clutch, pre tuned ecu. If you aren't going full standalone and you have some tuning experience nistune/calum is the only way to go for the price. DOHC KA's are the bees knees man. I'm really excited for your project lol. 88enigma
nice, im gona be running an equal length tubular top mount to a SPA 5000 series turbo. my plan was the 6000 series but after talkin to dave about it im going with the 5000. Dave the owner of S-MAX intercoolers hooked me up with a guy that does his tuning on his s14. the guy told me he can program my stock ecu for 250 then. not a bad deal. for the wiring harness since i wont be running with ac im gona run the ka harness through the ac slot in the fire wall. im just paranoid about all the wiring for the head lights and such then
88enigma
well, i got the block so far. within the next week or 2 i'll be ordering rods. also picked up a brand new xs power top mount with 38mm wastegate flange, brand new never been on a car for $150. that was a win. hopefully more to come a lot sooner. 88enigma
impatiently waiting for my tax return check to get my bottem end ordered. ended up keep the factory light and such harness. going with the kiss theory. im gona be getting another motor as well, i dont have cams, cam gears or caps right now and some timing componits. plus $100 for a motor with no manifolds aint bad even if it has 2 bent valves and a bad rod bearing. im gona use it for the timing componets i need and cams ect. i still need a tranny though to get started on mounts, trying to figure out why my power windows dont work at all though since the motor went. conquest707
if you werent turboing it wed have problems lol. for some reason this reminds be of this single cam swap into an ae86, that was retarded, at least with a turbo yours has potential very interested to see how this turns out
A.Wilder
Going from a crappy Mitsu truck motor to a crappy Nissan truck motor? jk! It should be a fun car!
88enigma
thanks guys. been waiting on my friend to have off work so he can bring me the other ka i bought, $100 for a motor with spun rod bearing and 2 bent valves. works cause i need timing componets and cams, plus soemthing on the side to play with. just ordered my pistons, supertech std bore. they have a high compression ratio then stock, but with that i'll need less boost. in the days i toyed with 3rd gen celicas i remember a 22rte making 325 on 25psi built and another buil;t with higher compression making 310 with 10psi. anyone have any friends into 240s? I'm having heck of a time finding a wiring harness locally, as well as a tranny harness. any help, i will thank very much for.things are going slower then i wanted, but i just work at red lobster, so it gives me lots of time for fine details.
