jisleyjr
Hey everyone, my brother has a 1987 Toyota Supra turbo sitting in storage and he is broke and needs money, i offered $300.00 and he said he would take it. He paid 220 couple years ago. The car runs, well it ran 2 years ago, it has some body damage, the hood is messed up along with the fender and the bumper. I am not sure if the frame is twisted. If i recall the guy before lent the car to a friend and he got in an accident, looks like he ran into a jacked up pickup. The kid was driving it for awhile after the accident too. The interior needs some work and of course the paint is faded. The car is about 2 hours away at his wife's grandma's farm. Is this one of those deals that i would be stupid to not jump on? I've enjoyed working on my car and it might be fun to learn about another car too. Thoughts? Edited March 25, 2008 by jisleyjr

notfried
7MGTE's are fun engines...just a lot of clutter to move to work on anything. i'd do it with the quickness. but do go expecting to spend SQ prices on parts...just triple what you'd expect to spend
MmSadda
Make sure it has a title (even if it's a salvage title, which it may likely be). You don't wanna buy it if you can't drive it on the street, unless you're looking for a dedicated track car, obviously. Otherwise, if you have the money (which it sounds like you do) $300 isn't that much; if you give up on it, you could probably sell it for at least as much in another year. I used to dream of driving one of those, but ended up with an FC3S RX7 instead.

Zack_Morris
nothing is sexier than the exhaust note of a turbocharged inline 6. do it Edited March 25, 2008 by TWCDrift
Boosted77.
You could sell the engine for prolly more than that. The car looks like it could be fixed. Paint, body work, new body pieces...Atleast $1500-$2000, be ready!
BOOSTED88tsi
If you get it, you might get lucky in the local junkyards and find one the same color. Theres a ton of those things in the yards near me.
Kreal
If it were here, I'd buy it without even seeing it. Granted the only damage is the front clip, a good front clip will only be a few hundred at a salvage yard. Heck, you could part that car out for more money. The Cat Conv is worth $200 it's self. Not to mention the engine, turbo, trans & wiring harness is worth quite a bit. A $300 car is no-brainer, no matter what it is. Paul
Boosted77.
Yup, I've seen a few in that color too. Good luck with it, whatever you do.
jisleyjr
Thanks for the input guys. I talked to my brother and he has the title and he'll be up, from Kansas, in a month or so and we'll pull it out of the barn then. Hopefully it didn't get trashed by mice. I'll post up new pictures when i get this bad boy out. John
