leesfer
Bought this car for $600 The previous owner had no documentation at all and said that the clutch was bad and that it couldn't build boost. The car was originally silver but someone at some point painted it with what seems to be white spray paint. The interior is terrible. http://i.imgur.com/QVU17.jpg
leesfer
The next weekend I installed a new clutch which fixed the boost issue, too! Turns out it couldn't boost because it was slipping so badly So now I have a fully running rust-free Starion for under $800 Suh-weet! http://i.imgur.com/YxvnY.jpg Edited May 10, 2012 by leesfer

leesfer
Now let's open the hood and take a look at what we brought home http://i.imgur.com/NpHZo.jpg Ew. We need to fix this. Clearly there was a radiator leak that no one bothered to fix and no one thought it would be a good idea to flush the rusty water out of it either. It's time to start taking things apart, lots of this stuff needs to go... goodbye ABS, A/C, Cruise Control, etc and hello SR20 aluminum radiator http://i.imgur.com/ceczm.jpg A little wire tucking and 20 minutes with a pressure washer http://i.imgur.com/l6051.jpg Edited February 20, 2012 by leesfer
leesfer
Changed out the brake discs with some slotted and drilled rotors and test painted a wheel http://i.imgur.com/UB7KX.jpg Also got my new seats in around the same time! (still haven't installed these yet, I need to have the brackets modified to fit) http://i.imgur.com/D8IUb.jpg

leesfer
Alright so clearly this build is getting pretty hefty so we need some solid injectors and a larger TB than stock BadToad was parting out his TBI build so I picked up a 52MM throttle body from him that came with Trilogy 650/950s http://i.imgur.com/zyPiJ.jpg Then I swapped out those Trilogy injectors with 1050/1050 Delphi injectors http://i.imgur.com/aCNQN.jpg

leesfer
Here's what we've all been waiting for (okay, at least I was waiting for it) The turbo build that will be powering this Starion, a Holset HX35 with a BEP .63 A/R hotside and Turbosmart 38mm wastegate mounted on a Turbonetics T3 manifold I picked up the turbo from a Cummins forum for $115 shipped and got a rebuild kit for $40 I had it dropped off at a metal plating shop near me and they did a fantastic job on polishing the compressor housing! The pictures don't do it justice at all... it came out a lot better than I was expecting http://i.imgur.com/F8JIF.jpg http://i.imgur.com/jCHLH.jpg Edited February 20, 2012 by leesfer

leesfer
Got the head back on today and painted the valve cover wrinkle black... it didn't turn out as nice as some here but it still looks good My valve cover is hitting the ARP studs I put in so I need to search around and see what you guys have done to fix that ( I know I've seen a thread around here somewhere about this issue) The cam isn't in yet, it's still an unknown cam, I need to take it down to Schneider so they can check it out on their cam doctor... I think I may hit a junk yard to see if I can find some roller rockers from a Caravan, too http://i1250.photobucket.com/albums/hh538/leesfer/IMG_20120225_133704.jpg http://i1250.photobucket.com/albums/hh538/leesfer/IMG_20120225_135149.jpg
