mistapickles
http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/2/3/727626/86-2.jpg I am looking into making 18 and 19 inch versions of our rims. They would be three piece forged rims, light and race ready. The only difference between the stock rims, besides being 18s and 19s is they will be 9.5 inches in the back with a flat 4 inch chrome lip and 7.5 in the front with a flat 2.5 inch chrome lip. The setup costs are huge, so I need to see how many people are interested in them before I go for it. Soooo....Interested?
MainstreaM
Could you give us a price breakdown?Like this:10 sets = $$$$$$20 sets = $$$$$30 sets = $$$$ Might help gain interest.
livesTSI
Hmm Im interested as Im sure most would be, but the pricing is going to play quite a big part of whether or not its feasible for me.

Ono
I'd be interested as well. Curious as to price.
Jms
Why not make the fronts 8" wide as in the SHP cars? I'd like to see prices as I am close to purchasing aftermarket 18x8 and 18x9.5. Tks,Jms
mistapickles
http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/2/3/727626/BMW.jpg They would look just like this with the same depth but with Starquest spokes and in 18's and 19's not 22's. I need to know how many people are interested before I can guesstimate a price. 265 19s with a 30 series tire, like those above, are half an inch shorter and the same width as my SHPs with 255 50s in the back and 235 30 R19s are half an inch shorter and the same width as my front SHPs with 225 50s so I don't believe turn radius would be affected. Might be able to do 8s and 10.5s
jwrape
As posted on *DM, i am VERy interested but cannot buy right now but would once I saved for them if they were available.
DJpowerHaus
If they're 3 piece, couldn't we spec out our widths? I was looking at some Compomotive CXNs and they were like $2300. You can beat that I hope. How about 17s?
Highly Boosted
id be in if we could get them wider
mistapickles
forged is not like cast, cast wheels can be scaled to size, whatever that might be. Forged needs a specific program written for each size of rim and for whatever spec you want. Cast is much heavier than forged also. Compomotive is nothing like these rims. I would need at least 15 people interested in paying $3600 to get one set of staggered rims made and for each different radius add $600 to the groups price. So if one person wanted 17s everybody's price would go to $4200. This is not looking feasible for a group purchase, too many different wants that raises the price. mistapickles
id be in if we could get them wider Wider than a 10.5 inch rim? Is your car tubbed?

Is your car tubbed? your first post said 9.5 for the rears 10.5 is what i would like. Im running 17x9 and 17x10.5 as of now, and yes I might be doing a 9in with tubs and 4 link if my stock diff cant handle the 600-900whp
DJpowerHaus
Sorry, didnt mean to mess with your thread. I don't understand how a 3 piece wheel won't scale though. Sure, if we needed 3 different sized centers, it would be 3x the setup cost and that's why its not feasible, but surely the width is open with a modular 3 piece setup. Either way, never mind. Best wishes for your GP.

Best wishes for your GP. There isn't anything modular about true three piece rims. I thought the same way you did when I went in to talk to the engineer. When you change the offsets and radius you change the dynamics of the rim, so while things act similar in variable sizes, the rotational masses are different, blah blah blah. Bottom line is, there is more work than just mounting spokes to different size blanks. I don't think there's going to be a group purchase. DJpowerHaus
Maybe this could be moved to another section. I'd really like to continue with this discussion and learn more about this.
kartman74
if they dont cost so much that would be sick!!! love the look of the stock wheels. a 8" front, and a 10" rear would be optimal. what does everyone think????
jtmuncher
Whats the gain from going to a larger then stock rear width? I am running 265 45's on my stock 9inch rim now and imo, thats pretty much all the tire width you need. It looks sick by the way... I do agree tho, this would be cool if it can be done at a reasonable $ range.

Yours doesn't rub the tub when going over bumps or dips?...I had some 255/50s and they scraped all the time and when I had a passenger forget it. maybe the difference is the 50 vs. 45 that you have.....jsut a thought.
