Got Wrong Strut!

I need a little help with the installation of front struts on a 1988 Starion

This is the strut assembly. Â The "canister" is the big tube, the "big nut" is the big nut on the top of the canister and the gas shock is ... the gas shock. Â "The original "big nut" has a ruber ring that holds the rod in and makes it so the rod doesnt rub.

The strut's rod is loose in the canister and rubs the metal

Here is a VERY good post by Chiplee. Thank you for your input Chip. I will add this: A dyno run that does not cross HP and TQ at 5252 it is not an accurate display of power output. Any knowledgable dyno tuner will confirm this.
