Car burns oil, only at idle

So i am working out the problems wiith this 15+ year old sitting car.not easy.. The car will only smoke what i assume to be oil at idle after its ran for a bit or at take off if i punch it. Car runs great but just the smoke. The head gasket was replaced and said the cylinder walls looked fine and inspected head and block with eyes and said visually looked good. Brought it to a high end shop and they said they are almost certain its the rings. I need to do a compression test i know, but what else
