Can you install an 89 ECU in an 86 without major modifications?

SOLD!Hey Guys, I recently pulled this out of a roller that I picked up, and some of the usable parts I'll be revamping and putting them up for sale. I figured I'd list these few items as I get them completed.   The front of this unit was pretty beat so I took several hours and removed all of the flakey buttons and what not, and replaced it all with one of my 87 HVAC overlay kits. All my problems seemingly started after the bolt on my old boost controller fell off and I drove the car around which made my BOV flutter versus a single dump(still flutters with new boost controller). I have since replaced the boost controller, reset my TPS/ISC with help from another member on here, checked all my vac lines for clogs/tears, and just today replaced my o2 sensor. Sitting at idle if I mash the pedal the car sputters a little and drops rpm really low, if I mash the pedal at low rpm

what is the proper way to clean it...how do i check if its working properly after cleaning it???i have a vacuum hand pump just don't know where to use it since there's 3 ports on it....
