History of octane in the united states up to 1970.
By Threedoor,
I have been doing research for a while on line to find out what octane leaded fuel was available in the united states before the emissions equipment required the use of unleaded fuel. You have to keep in mind that until the past few decades the United States was in step with the rest of the world using RON octane numbers as the advertised octane on vehicle fuel. Lead was used as an octane booster from the 1920's up to the1970's when we switched over to oxygenating agents as an ocante boosting
California vehicular emission testing question
By clow340,
alright so lets say that someone moves to California with their average daily driver late 80's automobile with a hopped up engine from a state that never required emission testing like Michigan and lived in California for a couple of years, we'll say 3 to 5 years. would that person need to modify their car in order to meet the emission requirements or would it be alright because it was titled in another state and brought with them to that state? thanks for the replies
