Distributor compatability

I searched, but could not find an answer. Will a 88 distributor work in a 87? My car is a 87 5sp widebody. The only engine mod is hard pipes with a bov.
89 and 88 complete short block

i have two engine blocks both are from automatic cars , 89 ran wen pulled from totaled car and 88 came along with the purchase of my yellow quest many years ago . both engines have been kept in doors . my suggestion would be to rebuild them before trying to install them . both engines spin freely and still have the auto tranny fly wheel attached. both engines are located in so. california so local sale only sorry but shipping will be a hassle and expensive. i will try to answer any question to b
