there is an odd noise coming from the area toward the front passenger side of the car...it started 2 or 3 nights ago...then went away for half a day...now its back   i wouldnt say its grinding....it almost sounds like a bunch of beer cans dragging on the road.....         it doesnt get worse when i brake or accelerate....but its fairly constant....it can get louder or softer at times(think popcorn popping)..... there is definitely nothing dragging on the ground...and i cant see anything hitting

so can feel a vibration in the shifter, whether in gear or not. it's quick and gets quicker with RPM increase. all the plugs look like the have the same sort of burn, and I'm not getting an indication of misfires when watching with a timing light.   is it possible that the balance shafts could be off-time (engine is new to me, was built by someone else, has about 30k on it prior to my purchase).   secondly, can a PP or flywheel cause these issues?
