I am pulling apart my motor right now and was wondering what this second chain was under the timing cover. Is it a balance shaft cause I see its connected to a shaft off the side of the block. Can I eliminate this whats the deal.   Also, I am having the head machined and what not, should I dismantle the head and reassemble it myself, I do know what I am doing with my cars, is it a pain in the a** to set the valvetrain back up cause I wanna make sure its done right.
