Vacuum advance, needed or not? Advantages/disadvantages to using it, cause I've heard that you don't need it and I've read that you do need it.

Just got my '84 flatty automatic. 2 tone black and gold. Can't wait to get it road worthy again. So far swapped out blown motor for a new one.
