Temperature Gauge Tripping Out

Okay guys, so my Quest is up and running. It idles beautifully and accelerates nicely. Looking for an 88 or 89 knock box WITH clip if anyone can help a brotha out. Anyways, my problem IS: Right when I turn the key to ON the temperature gauge spikes PAST the HOT line IMMEDIATELY. The car itself is not overheating and like I mentioned, it idles fine, and accelerates great, but the gauge itself goes PAST the top HOT line. the fans work and everything and even if the car's been sitting for a whole d

coolant temp gauge sensor

So I just converted my montero to a starquest turbo. The montero uses a single pin sensor the size of the quest ac cutoff sensor. So for now I put it in that spot, however what worries me is that I'm not getting an accurate reading untill the car warms up as the sensor is after the thermostat. Am I right? One option I can think of is finding an older style one pin temp gauge sensor from a quest... but it might be setup differently and won't be accurate with the truck gauge. Other option is t
