    Got Wrong Strut!

    I need a little help with the installation of front struts on a 1988 Starion http://userpages.umbc.edu/~mbowma1/oldNut.jpg   This is the strut assembly.  The "canister" is the big tube, the "big nut" is the big nut on the top of the canister and the gas shock is ... the gas shock.  "The original "big nut" has a ruber ring that holds the rod in and makes it so the rod doesnt rub.   http://userpages.umbc.edu/~mbowma1/looseMov.gif   The strut's rod is loose in the canister and rubs the metal

    Well I am still in the process of stripping the undercarraige of my car.   So far I used an angle grinder with various steel brushes and fiberglass wheels to strip most of the undercoating off of the unibody.   But I still have many tight spots that I can't get the angle grinder to, so I bought a sandblaster kit.  ($50 jobber at sears).   Well it has been over 90 degrees and around 100% humidity all week which makes blasting a pain due to moisture in the tank and lines.  First I bought a moistur
