87 with a slight hiccup and emissions ?
By R/Tquest,
Completely stock driver. New not jet head 5K mi. ago. No problems there. This has been an irritating problem for a little while now. First It started missing/sputtering worse. I checked the turbo boot, It was cracked so I replaced it with one off my parts car. The old plug wires were causing that sputtering. New cap, plugs, wires, rotor. Now that's ok. There's still this erratic… short, momentary miss or quick backfire normally under acceleration. Just a hiccup, Then it's gone. It d
Won't tolerate any boost under 3500 rpm- runs fine otherwise
By theastronaut,
I've had a problem to develop on my '87 TSi. It is all stock except for a gutted pre-cat, and full 2.5" exhaust from there back. I have a MBC adjusted to 11-12 psi (judging by the stock boost gauge). It ran fine with this combination for around 1500 miles before the problem started. Problem- it runs perfect except it won't tolerate boost under about 3500 rpm. It will idle and drive perfectly at any rpm as long as I stay below 1-2 psi. Over 3500 I can punch it and it bucks once as it build
Car Randomly Stalls Out/Dies While Idling at Stops
By BoostedBimmer,
Ok, for a few times now, when I come to a light and idle, the RPMs would dip really low and the car would die out. I put it in neutral and the car starts right up then. This happened a few times now this week all the sudden. I can prevent this by pressing the gas pedal at the light to prevent the engine's rpms from dipping too low. The car has been idling perfect at around 800 RPM and the motor runs perfect with no problems. I did a full tune-up a few months ago too (new fuel filter, wires
1986 MOTOR WEEK Porsche 944 Turbo vs. Japanese(RX7, Conquest, 300ZX)
By stesir,
https://www.youtube....h?v=92NoDd7DGnU Awesome watching this. I recall this very episode. My 1st car was a Datsun 280Z and I liked how the 300ZX held up with it's attributes to this day. Couldn't afford a new car like the Conquest. The 944 was always going to win. Now, I'm a StarQuest collector and I have a 240Z!
