  2. my lifters will get noisy if i do high rpms pulls and will stay that was for a day or two. since i have installed my msd w/rev limiter and have rev limit set to 5500 i havent heard my lifters tick in a while.
  3. haha, thats his old lady and kids that were in the car, they were taking the kids to school. and while in the school zone a guy comes flyin across in front of him and WHAMO!!
  4. i havent seen it in person but i guess it pushed the core support back pretty good and crushed the inner fender and bent the front part of the frame. as far as "totalled" you know the insurance company is gonna write it off cause its got no value on paper. i think ulrich has seen this car in person down in KS where the car was origially from, i guess he ran into him one night out in his crown vic.

  6. trying to get the stupid pics he sent me to download but a local member just stopped by and told me the horror story of his 87 B71 car getting totalled this morning. someone cut in front of him trying to make a turn and he couldnt get stopped fast enought and smashed into the quarter panel of the other car. it was the other guys fault and so far it appears he is insured so at least thats good. this is the car that got totalled, i have crash pics also just having problem getting them to download for some reason. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e82/silverquest/BlackQuest/017-2.jpg http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e82/silverquest/thetrack/quest3106.jpg
  7. my coupler isnt even new and mine after 2yrs of use and at least 10,000 of hard driving is just fine and i have ZERO slop in my steering. tires are 205s out front, .5-1" tire difference isnt gonna make the difference in a failed part or not. my main thoughts are the mechanic not installing something correct and maybe there is some binding going on somewhere cause mine is no where near as hard to turn as your decribing. here is a small video of me running my car down the street, dont do much turning in the video but you can see my arms and me turning the wheels when i turn around and you can kinda gauge how much effort its taking me to turn my manual steering, mine is really not that bad at all. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b343/vcyberbob/barn/th_brake012.jpg i know your just looking for steering coupler replacement in this thread but i think you may have a problem somewhere cause it shouldnt be that hard to turn.
  8. yea now thats one particular flatty i would love to have!!
  9. as much flaming as people do to peoples cars around here i could only imagine the flaming the girls of the calander would get from this commmunity. if i am not mistaken larry32t's daughter was supposed to be making a conquest calender with just the cars.
  10. i have had manual steering on my car for 2yrs now with 2 trips to branson missouri, one trip to PF tenn and drove on the super twisty area 32 road. my steering coupler is just as tight today as it was the day it was installed. that steering coupler did NOT fail because of the manual steering...PERIOD!! colbalt didnt you have someone else install all your stuff? if i remember correct you paid someone else like $400 to install everything. i have the EXACT same parts on my car and they have NOT failed in anyway shape or form, BUT i installed mine myself so i know the work was done correctly.
  11. it does matter slightly, not really in their performance per say. the 88-89 models used a larger nipple and larger hose to feed to it. my thoughts are they upgraded that because boost was turned up in 88-89 from 7 to 10psi, i would assume it used larger ports and hoses to flow better and keep up with the higher boost pressure levels.
  12. mines in the same basic location of the stock mass, the GM mass air was never designed to be a blow thru setup. will it work as one, yes there are members here running them like that. and you are correct having them located in different places will make for a wide range of settings on different cars. i have setup 3-4 mafts for other members on their cars using the same location of the mass air as mine and they all ran perfect on my settings. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e82/silverquest/BlackQuest/car043.jpg
  13. i thought it was trilogy that sold the ones that bolted up.

  18. just got back from a longer test drive, no cops this time. found the clunking noise in the rear end, seems the rear tire will make a clunking sound when its loose and is hitting the strut tower. when i swapped the back wheels out for some stock ones with better tires i was like OHHH CRAP. no more clunking. as far as the car goes, WOW drives much better now and as far as the trans goes it seems its working perfect to me. hitting all gears including OD and stayin in OD, using the OD switch it shifts out of it if you press it, and goes right back in if you let the button back out. it pulls a little to the drivers side and can use a alignment but other then that it drives pretty smooth. boosts great, pull pretty hard for a completly stock auto car, brakes seem ok and no funky noises other then what sounds like a cat converter sheild rattling.
  19. decent clutch, i ran one for a while and i know a couple other members that have ran them without too many complaints. great clutch if your on a budget.
  20. oh, no i thought you said they were expired. oops.
  21. just went out and cold started the car to see how it ran today. first bump of the key and it fired right up and idled nice and smooth, warmed up and idle dropped down to a perfect smooth 900rmps. this baby is ready to rock. gonna get it cleaned up later today and back together and attempt another test drive.
  22. oh the funny thing about the lap belt is he wouldnt even have knoticed but he was having a hard time reading the dash vin so i kindly showed him the vin stamp in the door jam, which in turn released the auto belt from me and showing i wasnt wearing the lap belt.
  23. ^ yea possibly, but i have some upaid fines....so better just pay it and send it in. not to mention my record and me and the judge already being on a first name basis. and your forgetting something about the 30day period, thats fine if these tags werent EXPIRED since your birthday was last weekend. as far as karma.... i am helping larry get this auto car running for his daughter and i was taking it on a test drive to ensure it wasnt a rolling death trap. i was doing something illegal i guess but it was for a good reason so shouldnt that one cancel itself out...haha. you know me i aint scared, today i am gonna bolt on the hood, put the tags on it, possible put a set of stock wheels on it and take it for another test drive. but it doesnt have much gas in it so it may not do far. i figure put back together, maybe a bath with stock wheels and it mights not directly look like the same car.
